Lancaster University Delegation Visits CUEB
On the afternoon of October 9, the delegation of Lancaster University (short for LU) visited CUEB, including Claire Astle, Global Experience and Partnerships Manager at Lancaster University Management School, Dr. George Wang, Director of the Department of Accounting and Finance, and Jordan Lynch, the liaison for LU - CUEB. Chen Yanbin, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of CUEB,met the delegation. The two parties exchanged ideas on student exchange, faculty exchange and research cooperation. Attendees included Xie Haixia, Director of Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges along with Wei Huaying, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchanges Office, Sha Yezhou, the Assistant of Director of Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Liu Wenchuan, Party Secretary of the School of Finance, Yu Peng, President of School of Accounting, Li Xue, associate professor of School of Finance, and Liu Liu, an instructor from College of Business Administration.
Chen Yanbin expressed welcome to the delegation. Given the similar disciplinary strengths, Chen regarded the visit as an opportunity to establish a collaborative partnership in student exchange, international conferences organization, and faculty exchange. Furthermore, he expressed his intention to deepen international cooperation and exchange, creating new opportunities of collaboration.
Xie Haixia gave a brief introduction to CUEB in term of the school ranking, faculty and student profiles and strong disciplines. She said that Lancaster University, an outstanding research university in Britain, is known for its departments of Accounting, Finance and Business Management. Among them, Marketing Studies is its ace major. CUEB is willing to have a long-term and in-depth partnership with LU in aspects of student exchange in business programs, finance and accounting, joint personnel training, faculty exchange and research cooperation.
Claire Astle briefed Lancaster University, including its location, student enrollment, faculty strength, research capabilities, and colleges organization. She highlighted that Lancaster University Management School is internationally recognized as one of the leading business universities, holding quadruple accreditation from AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS, and SBC. The school offers extensive educational resources, robust research capabilities, the abundance of internship and career opportunities, which reflects its emphasis on career guidance. Furthermore, she expressed a strong desire to foster collaboration and exchanges with CUEB, particularly with the School of Finance and School of Accounting.
Then leaders in charge of relevant programs from School of Finance and School of Accounting respectively provided an overview of each school, including basic information, international exchange programs, expressing strong interest in fostering collaboration with Lancaster University Management School.
Thanks to this meeting, both parties reached a preliminary intention to cooperate and will further discuss specific details in subsequent communications. These details include the 3+1+1 Program for Successive Graduate and Postgraduate Students, the 2+2 Dual Degree Program, international conferences co-host, scholarship programs, and other matters related to cooperation agreement between the two universities.
After the meeting, the delegation visited one of the internship bases of School of Finance, CRCC Financial Leasing Co., LTD. The delegation, the company and CUEB discussed on the Cloud Rental Platform for CRCC, the business model of internet platforms on finance leasing and combination between industry and finance, joint applications for research projects and awards, high-quality collaboration among industry, academia, and research, as well as matters related to student internship bases.
