On the morning of October 15, 2023 Alumni Homecoming Conference (hereafter the Conference) was held in CUEB Square. Party Secretary Wang Wenju, Deputy Party Secretary and President Wu Weixing, Deputy Party Secretary Xu Fang and Meng Bo, Vice President Li Xiaomu, Mao Baizhang, Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Secretary of Discipline Inspection Commission, Yao Linxiu and Chen Yanbin, Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President, heads of relevant functional departments, and heads in charge of the Alumni Association of each school, members of the 4th Council of the Alumni Association, representatives of alumni enterprises, and more than 1500 alumni attended the Conference. It was presided over by Vice President Yin Zhichao, member of Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Standing Council of the Alumni Association.

The Conference began with the wonderful performance showed by school folk music orchestra. On behalf of the school, Wu Weixing extended a warm welcome to the alumni and thanked them for their dedication to all fields and contribution to the national strategy and local economic and social development.

He introduced to the alumni the school’s achievements in recent years in terms of discipline construction, personnel training, scientific research, social services, etc., especially in promoting the transformation of digitally-enabled personnels, serving the needs of major national strategy and the development of the capital in the new era. He said that the achievements of the school’s development are the result of unwavering commitment, as well as the strong support and joint efforts of alumni. Therefore, he sincerely thanked the alumni for their concern and support.

He emphasized that the alumni’s expectation and support have been the impetus for the school’s reform and development, and hoped that the alumni would pool their strengths, resources and wisdom. Moreover, the school would put more emphasis on supporting and strengthening the alumni work so as to enable alumni resonate with the development of school and work towards the same goal.

Vice President Yin Zhichao, member of the Party Standing Committee and Vice President of the Standing Council in the Alumni Association presides over the conference.

In order to strengthen alumni communication and services, CUEB appoints alumni liaisons every year, and a total of 143 alumni were appointed as alumni liaisons this year. At the conference, Yao Linxiu and Chen Yanbin presented appointment letters to representatives of alumni liaisons who will serve as a bridge connecting the alumni and school for the common development.

Du Xiaoyu, a graduate of Grade 1999 majoring in Economic Law and Vice Executive of Tencent Research Institute, spoke on behalf of the alumni. He recalled the wonderful time he spent at CUEB and thanked the Alma Mater for her cultivation and teachers’ instructions. He said that the alumni are all concerned about the Alma Mater, and are proud of her development. He hoped all CUEBers could contribute more in their own fields and improve the reputation and promote the development of the school. Finally, he gave best wishes to the school, the faculty, students and alumni.

Alumni play a crucial role in the school’s development as valuable resources. A number of alumni enterprises have taken full advantage of their resources and became the first batch of alumni enterprise coordinated education bases. Xu Fang, Meng Bo, Li Xiaomu, and Mao Baizhang presented the plaque to the coordinated education bases of alumni enterprises. The first batch of bases will work with the school to develop new modes of school-enterprise cooperation, establish a long-term mechanism for cooperation to realize win-win development.

Liu Yang, a graduate of Grade 1994 majoring in Commercial Economics and Chief Director of China Insurance Education Co., Ltd, delivered a speech as the representative of coordinated education bases of alumni enterprise. He was grateful for the training of the Alma Mater, congratulated her achievements, and expressed his gratitude for actively building up a communication platform for school-enterprise cooperation and coordinated education. He said that China Insurance Education Co., Ltd, as one of the coordinated education bases, will always support the development of the school. He looked forward to the two parties’ productive cooperation and constant improvement of cooperation quality so as to create a community with shared development for deep integration of coordinated education between the school and alumni.

In his speech, Wang Wenju welcomed the alumni back to school and told the stories of teachers and students. He said that since its foundation, the school has continuously improved competences to serve the development of the country and the capital, fully implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, and worked to build China into a great modern socialist country and the development of the capital in the new era. He introduced the general objectives, ideas and tasks of the school’s future development. He said that the school will promote high-quality Party building as a lead to boost high-quality development, build CUEB into Beijing Municipal high-level research university and China’s first-class and worldly-renowned university of finance and economics with distinctive features, and continue to promote school work in accordance with the general idea to “strengthen internal strength, build external image, strengthen construction, deepen reform and improve quality”. The school will take discipline construction as the main task, and layout a number of disciplines that are intertwined with modernization, intelligence, and digitalization, introduce high-quality resources to build a strong and high-quality professional teaching team, promote the transformation of digitally-enabled personnels so as to better serve the needs of the major national strategies and the capital’s development in the new era, enhance globally-oriented education, and improve the campus environment in a bid to build CUEB into a home for the whole faculty, students, as well as for the alumni.

He said that alumni witness and boost the construction and development of the school, and they also serve as the most reliable force driving the CUEB development. He hoped that the alumni would make suggestions on the development of the school, and work together to make it even better! CUEB will also promote the high-quality development of school with higher level and more achievements, so that the alumni will be proud of their Alma Mater!

At the end, the school Choir, faculty, students and alumni together sang the “Ode to the Motherland”, all wishing China and CUEB a better and prosperous future.

In order to promote the deep integration of schools and enterprises, strengthen coordinated education, establish a long-term mechanism, and realize the win-win development of the school and alumni enterprises, the school also convened a symposium on the development of coordinated education bases of alumni enterprises before the homecoming conference. At the conference, the school and 16 alumni enterprises signed a framework agreement on the coordinated education bases to promote the cooperation between two parties. The participants recalled their past experiences when they spent in the school, expressed their gratitude for Alma Mater, and put forward valuable suggestions for deepening school-enterprise cooperation and promoting school development.

After the Conference, the alumni participated in activities organized by the school. They gathered together to deliver their love towards teachers, students as well as CUEB in such a beautiful season in October, when the campus is filled with joy and vigor.
