Congrats! Delegation of College of Urban Economics and Public Administration Wins the 1st Prize in National Final of the 2nd KQ GEO Cup

On April 20, the national final of the 2nd “KQ GEO Cup” National College Students’ Planning and Design Competition for Improving the Rural Territorial Spatial Value came to a successful close at the China University of Geosciences Beijing (CUGB). This competition, sponsored by the China Society of Territorial Economists and “Innovation China” Rural Revitalization Association, was organized by CUGB and Beijing Normal University, and co-organized by the Department of Territorial Spatial Planning and Department of Territorial Spatial Ecological Restoration of the Ministry of Natural Resources of People’s Republic of China, KQ GEO Technologies and Baoshan Town Huairou District People’s Government of Beijing Municipality. Representing CUEB, the delegation of the College of Urban Economics and Public Administration finally won the 1st prize amidst fierce competition.

The team comprised 5 undergraduates majoring in Land Resources Management, Grade 2021, from the College of Urban Economics and Public Administration, including Zhou Runqiu, Zhang He, Li Yuxuan, Liang Zhenxin and Yuan Junyi. The instructors were Zhang Yang, Hu Tian, Li Yuyao and Cheng Jian. Engaging in exchanges and competitions with peers from across the country, the students from CUEB fully demonstrated the spirit of progress, innovation and confidence.

Centering around the theme of optimizing resource allocation and enhancing rural value, this competition actively adrresses the requirements of Rural Revitalization. It aims to promote the innovation of theories, methods, and technologies of territorial spatial planning, motivate the exploration spirit of young students to serve Rural Revitalization, building a beautiful countryside. Since its launch in September 2023, the competition has received extensive attention and active participation from numerous universities. Following fierce competition in nine areas, the organizing committee evaluated entries based on theme relevance, scientific merit, forward-looking, practicality, and presentation. Consequently, 45 excellent works were selected to advance to the national final. At the same time, as the second national planning and design competition for improving territorial spatial value, this competition put forward higher requirements in planning and design. Before the competition, team members prepared hard while receiving patient guidance from instructors. Based on the specific information of field investigation, the team formulated a thorough plan, and continuously refined and improved it. The instructors, understanding the current situation and characteristics of the research project, gave practical suggestions to maximize the team’s potential and develop an excellent plan. Throughout the competition, the team kept positive and made concentrated efforts in continual self-improvement. Through solid expertise and meticulous preparation, they delivered an impressive presentation. During the evaluation stage, the experts posed inquiries about the planning concept, technical methods, team collaboration, potentials for improvement, and practical value, comprehensively assessing their command of professional knowledge, planning skills, and team cooperation capabilities. In the end, CUEB team clinched the first prize with outstanding performance.
