CUEB Holds Seminar on Independent Knowledge System and Discipline Construction of Chinese Finance

On the morning of April 19, the seminar on the Independent Knowledge System and Discipline Construction of Chinese Finance was held at the Press Room of Boyuan Building at CUEB. The event brought together finance experts and scholars from more than ten key universities across China attended to engage in in-depth discussions on two core themes: building an independent knowledge system of Chinese finance and improving the quality of finance discipline construction in the digital-intelligent era. Wu Weixing, Deputy Party Secretary and President of CUEB, addressed the seminar while Yin Zhichao, Member of Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of CUEB, presided over the event.

In his speech, Wu noted that the seminar coincides with the tenth anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s views on developing philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics. The seminar is a key measure for implementing the requirements for cultivating outstanding individuals in these fields. He raised three core questions regarding the independent knowledge system and discipline construction in finance, emphasized the urgency of financial education reform, and called on experts to jointly explore pathways for disciplinary advancement and human resources cultivation.

A roundtable forum on “How to Promote the Construction of an Independent Financial Knowledge System with Chinese Characteristics” was joined by experts including Meng Hao, President of Tianjin University of Finance and Economics; Yi Xingjian, President of Guangdong University of Finance; Li Jianjun, Vice President of Central University of Finance and Economics; Li Zhisheng, Vice President of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics; Wang Chongrun, Vice President of Hebei University of Economics and Business; and Lu Yao, Associate Dean of the Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University. This roundtable forum was chaired by Yin Zhichao.

The other roundtable on “How to Enhance the Quality of Finance Discipline Development in the Digital-Intelligent Era” featured exchanges among scholars including Zhao Xijun, Co-Dean of the China Capital Market Institute at Renmin University of China; Fan Xiaoyun, Dean of the School of Finance at Nankai University; Jiang Hai, Vice Dean of the School of Economics at Jinan University; Feng Yun, Vice Dean of the Bank of China-Sponsored School of Technology and Finance at Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Yu Minggui, Dean of the School of Finance at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law; Wang Maobin, Party Secretary of the China School of Finance at University of International Business and Economics; Guo Ye, Vice Dean of the School of Economics at Xiamen University; Liu Xiaolei, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management at Peking University; and Li Ping, Executive Vice Dean of the Beijing Digital Economy Development Institute at CUEB. Zhou Kaiguo, Dean of the School of Finance at CUEB, chaired the second roundtable.

As part of the academic events celebrating CUEB’s 70th anniversary, this seminar provided a valuable opportunity to advance China’s independent knowledge system and professional construction in finance, offering valuable insights for CUEB’s finance discipline and educational reform. CUEB will take this seminar as an opportunity to further reform financial education and teaching, accelerate the development of an independent knowledge system for Chinese finance, and contribute to the national financial strategy and the economic and social development of the capital.
