On March 5, the 5th CUEB Party Committee convened its 2nd plenary session in Conference Room 7 of the Bona Building. The annual report on ideological work and the report outlining the school’s achievements in 2023 were thoroughly reviewed during the meeting. After careful consideration, the meeting approved the strategic priorities for the school’s agenda in 2024. The session was chaired by the Standing Committee of CUEB Party Committee, with an address delivered by Wang Wenju, Secretary of CUEB Party Committee.

The session fully acknowledged the school’s achievements in 2023, reaching a consensus that CUEB adhered to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era (the Thought) as its guiding principle. Throughout the year, the school implemented the spirit of the Party’s 20th National Congress, the Second Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, and the 13th Party Congress of Beijing, embracing the Party’s educational policies and strategic plans for building a strong educational system. Deeply engaged in the education campaigns themed “Studying and Implementing the Thought”, CUEB successfully held the school’s 5th Party Congress. Efforts were intensified to promote the high-quality development of academic disciplines while embarking on the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. The school also improved the quality of personnel training, bolstered the capacity for research and social services, and enhanced both domestic and international collaborations. Significantly, CUEB made strides in elevating governance capacity and the level of education, comprehensively strengthening the Party discipline. These concerted efforts led to new progress and achievements across various sectors.

The plenary session noted that 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and is a crucial year for achieving the objectives of the 14th Five-Year Plan. The overarching directive for the school’s work is to follow the Thought, fully implement the Party’s educational policies, deeply study and implement the outline for building a strong education system and the decisions made by the CPC Central Committee and Beijing Municipal Committee, as well as fulfill the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. Adhering to the requirements for developing new qualities of productivity, we should prioritize the goals and tasks of the school’s 5th Party Congress as the mainline of work and focus on promoting CUEB’s high-quality development and enhancing our core competitiveness. CUEB will steadfastly strengthen Party building and rigorous Party self-governance to lead quality improvement with “Six Major Projects” in Party building, continuously enhancing the capability to serve Chinese modernization and capital development in the new era.

The plenary session emphasized that all teachers and students should unite more closely around the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core. Adhering to the guidance of the Thought, we should fully implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress and Xi’s important statements on education, embark on the spirit of the 4th Plenary meeting of the 13th Beijing Municipal Committee, and focus on the goals determined by the school’s 5th Party Congress. Furthermore, it is important to prioritize stability while pursuing progress and breaking new ground after laying the groundwork. It called for the Party’s comprehensive leadership over the school’s work to fully leverage the directing and protective functions of Party building and gathering the momentum for progress, thus advancing the “Six Major Projects” for quality development. All the efforts are made to start a new chapter for CUEB’s high-quality development.
