On March 20, Mou Zhenhua, the 27th leader of the Lei Feng Brigade, was invited to deliver a speech about the spirit of Lei Feng, who is an iconic figure in Chinese culture, known for selflessness, kindness, and dedication to serving others and the community. The speech was to study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era (the Thought), especially Xi’s directives on upholding the Lei Feng Spirit in contemporary times. The event, held at Zhuoyu Auditorium, was jointly organized by the Student Affairs Department of the School Party Committee, CUEB Youth League Committee, and the School of Public Finance and Taxation. Among the distinguished attendees were Meng Bo, Deputy Party Secretary of CUEB; Wang Zhimin, Deputy Director of Political Work Department of Lei Feng’s unit; Hu Wen, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of CUEB; Liu Xuewei, Party Secretary of the School of Public Finance and Taxation, and Ji Yanyan, Deputy Minister of the Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee, with over 700 students participating. Liu Yumei, Deputy Party Secretary of the School of Public Finance and Taxation, presided over the event.

Before the lecture, Meng Bo exchanged insights with Wang Zhimin and his team. Meng introduced CUEB’s personnel training while Wang introduced the military construction. They envisioned joint activities leveraging strengths. They expressed willingness to establish joint development mechanisms in various forms. An effective coordination will be achieved between the school and society with immersive and experiential ideological education.

Then, Hu Wen and Wang Zhimin jointly unveiled the “CUEB Base for Patriotism Education”.

Mou Zhenhua delivered a speech themed “Learning Lei Feng Spirt”. He interpreted the Spirit in terms of Lei Feng’s personality, the Spirit’s essence, its enduring nature, and its implementation in the new era.

Mou vividly portrayed Lei Feng’s characteristics and experiences, from which the students could see a cheerful, youthful, dedicated, and loyal worker and soldier in a more comprehensive way.

Then, Mou analyzed the essence of Lei Feng Spirit, highlighting its eternal nature rooted in lofty ideals and firm beliefs in love for the motherland, the Party, and socialism. He emphasized its timeless appeal, driven by its embodiment of traditional virtues and alignment with contemporary values. Mou underscored the importance of deeply studying and promoting this spiritual legacy.

Finally, Mou introduced practical activities undertaken by his unit guided by Lei Feng Spirit. He stressed the enduring political responsibilities of soldiers, urging them to deeply understand the idea of strengthening the army, and strive to embody the spirit of Lei Feng as loyal Party members. He emphasized the need for both soldiers and students to implement Xi’s thinking on strengthening the military, conscientiously study Xi’s important directives on carrying forward the Spirit, and integrate the Spirit into daily life and work, ensuring its widespread influence across the motherland.

Before the lecture, Wang Zhimin and his team visited the School History Museum.  

This lecture is part of a series of educational initiatives to study and implement the Thought. The Student Affairs Department of CUEB Party Committee plans to invite more experts and scholars to deliver speeches focusing on promoting patriotism, traditional Chinese culture education, and aesthetic education. These endeavors aim to enhance students’ political understanding, enrich their extracurricular life, and foster their all-round development.
