On December 25th, CUEB President Wang Jiaqiong met with the Pu’er University delegation of seven led by the school Party Secretary Wu Zhonghua. The two parties had a discussion and then signed an agreement on furthering cooperation. Consensus was reached on overseas student education, academic research and discipline development as well as faculty training.

As the contact person of cooperation of the two universities, Yang Shizhong, secretary of CUEB Commission for Discipline Inspection made a brief introduction of mutual cooperation in the last two years. He pointed out that since two parties signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in May, 2015, the two parties have co-organized activities like the 1st Pu’er Green Economic Development Forum with considerable achievements, making full use of each other’s strength in disciplines and location. The two parties hoped to fulfill mutual development on the basis of previous cooperation. 

CUEB Vice President Xu Fang made a brief introduction of overseas student education. She stressed that it is an essential strategy for the university to develop advanced talents in economic administration. CUEB has put an emphasis on the cooperation with Pu’er University. With its advantages in location, disciplines and faculty, CUEB will ardently promote the mutual cooperation to a new height. According to the agreement, models like “2+2”,”4+3” will be adopted for joint education on undergraduate and postgraduate students from ASEAN countries, which will enormously facilitate cultural exchange between China and ASEAN countries. 

In the end, President Wang Jiaqiong made a conclusion in which he pointed out that Pu’er University has unique features in education. CUEB will support Pu’er university in terms of overseas student education, faculty training, academic research and discipline development. All these programs will lay a solid foundation for further and wider cooperation between the two universities, thus achieving the goals of joint education and serving the “Belt and Road” initiative.
