On the afternoon of May 28, the 2024 Alumni Liaison Appointment Ceremony, themed “Serving the Alumni to the Fullest of Youth”, was held at the Academic Hall in Boxue Building. CUEB Vice President Yin Zhichao, member of CUEB Party Standing Committee and Vice President of the Standing Council in the Alumni Association (AA) delivered a speech. Attendees included Yan Hengyin, a Master alumnus in International Economics and Trade (Class of 2005) and Executive Director of the China Zhongbo Think Tank; Xu Yanhong, Deputy Director of the Office of Cooperation Affairs (in charge of work) and Vice President of the Alumni Association; school heads in charge of the Alumni Association; 2024 alumni liaisons and AA staff. Shao Lili, Vice Director of Office of Cooperation Affairs and Secretary-General of AA, presided over the ceremony.

Yin Zhichao congratulated the 2024 graduates and expressed gratitude to the new alumni liaisons. Yin noted CUEB’s commitment to building a robust alumni network to foster lifelong connections growth. He stressed that alumni liaisons play a key role in communication and inheritance. 

He hoped everyone work hard in their respective positions, carry forward the spirit of CUEB’s motto “Advocate Morality, Value Competence, Strategize National Development, and Serve the People”. He encouraged the liaisons to improve the university’s reputation and contribute to its high-quality development by connecting alumni and sharing information. Finally, he expressed best wishes to all graduates.

Xu Yanhong warmly welcomed the new alumni liaisons, introduced the AA and clarified the responsibilities. She emphasized the alumni liaisons’ importance in facilitating communication, maintaining unity and alumni work. She hoped that all alumni liaisons would contribute to maintaining relations, organizing activities, providing services, and promoting the development of CUEB.

During the ceremony, Xu Yanhong and other teachers presented appointment letters and gave tailored alumni seals to all alumni liaisons.

Sun Jun, a 2020 undergraduate student in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics (Finance) from the School of Statistics, spoke on behalf of all 2024 alumni liaisons. Reflecting on his wonderful time at CUEB, Sun pledged to fulfill his duties, uphold the school motto, strengthen alumni cohesion and serve the development of CUEB.

Alumnus Yan Hengyin delivered a keynote speech. He recalled the time studying at CUEB and expressed gratitude to CUEB for his growth by endowing him the cultural knowledge and international vision. By sharing his experience in rural revitalization work, he encouraged new graduates to remain grateful, uphold the school values, and contribute to national development and people’s well-being.

During the ceremony, Shao Lili introduced the featured activity called “‘Time Delivery’: A letter to oneself 10 years later”. After the ceremony, each school held alumni symposium respectively.

CUEB has always prioritized alumni liaison work. Among the graduates of Class 2024, a total of 214 alumni liaisons were appointed, including 143 undergraduates and 71 postgraduates. This initiative, now in its 13th years, has seen a total of 2,704 graduates appointed as alumni liaisons, playing an important role in strengthening alumni liaison, enhancing communication and promoting mutual development.
