On September 17 and 18, CUEB Deputy Party Secretary and President Wu Weixing led a team to visit Zhongnan University of Economics and Law (ZUEL) and other institutions, as well as CUEB alumni, in an effort to advance Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and strengthen cooperation with key domestic financial and economic universities and relevant institutions.

Wu had a meeting with Yang Canming, the President and Deputy Party Secretary of ZUEL, and other school leaders. Wu began by extending his gratitude for the hospitality. He then introduced the history and achievements of CUEB and expressed his hope to deepen cooperation between the two sides. Wu also emphasized his openness to learn from ZUEL’s experience and practices. Then, Yang introduced ZUEL’s situation in terms of his history, characteristics, advantages and student development. He then expressed his aspiration to strengthen cooperation for high-quality development. Finally, the two sides had extensive conversations about the discipline growth, undergraduate and postgraduate education, scientific research, development planning and construction of human resources. The faculty in charge of the Party Committee Office and School Office, the Graduate School, the Department of Development Planning, the Department of Academic Affairs, the School of Finance, the School of Law all attended the meeting.

In Hubei Emission Exchange, Wu and his delegation spoked with Wu Yuxiang, Secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of the exchange. Wu Weixing introduced the development and goals of CUEB, and expressed the hope that by working together more closely, the two sides would advance the national strategic objectives of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality by constructing a carbon financial center and establishing carbon inclusive system. Wu Yuxiang introduced the basic situation and business system of Hubei Emission Exchange. The two sides discussed trading, finance, capital management, benefits, standards and education around carbon-related industries. Wu and his delegation then went to China Carbon Emission Rights Registration and Settlement Corporation, where Zhu Guohui, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the corporation, introduced the company’s history and achievements. Both sides reached an important consensus on deepening cooperation in various fields.

Wu and his team paid a visit to Chen Yuan, a graduate of grade 1984 with a major in financial accounting in Wuhan. Chen is currently the chairman of Wuhan Jiuzhou Real Estate Development Co., Ltd. and the vice president of Alumni Organization of CUEB in Hubei. Wu also participated in a colloquium of alumni representatives in Hubei. Wu gave an overview of CUEB’s recent operations and career development to the alumni. He promised that CUEB would keep in touch with and assist alumni. He encouraged them to work hard and advance their professions, and expressed the hope that the alumni would support the high-quality development of CUEB. Pu Ronghui, a graduate of the grade 1982 majoring in business administration and management and the president of Alumni Organization of CUEB in Hubei, Yang Hui, a graduate of the grade 1987 majoring in planning and statistics and the secretary-general of Alumni Organization of CUEB in Hubei, and other alumni representatives including Xu Zuming, Ai Zilong, Yao Xiaoshan, Ye Chingyan, Jiang Shan, and Wang Xiangyang attended the colloquium. They recalled the years in CUEB, expressed their gratitude for CUEB. They expressed that they would inherit and carry forward the spirit of the school motto of “advocating morality, valuing competence, strategizing national development, and serving the people”, and that they would also contribute to the economic and social development of the country and the region.
