Asia’s TOP1 Academic Visit: A Rewarding Experience for CUEBers

CUEB faculty and students recently embarked on a multidisciplinary

study journey at the National University of Singapore (NUS).

NUS ranked at the top

in the 2025 QS World University Rankings,

ranking the 8th globally and the1st in Asia.

At this globally renowned institution,

students not only engaged with unique teaching methods

but also gained insights from lectures delivered by distinguished professors.

After completing the academic program,

students received certificates of completion,

academic certification letters, and individualized evaluation reports.

Group members demonstrating excellence in the final competition

also received additional certificates of excellence.

Six topics were well arranged for this program,

covering fields such as business and finance, education and teaching management,

humanities and social sciences, journalism and new media,

law and public policy, and business law and legal practice.

Take the business and finance program as an example.

Students not only studied business and finance curriculum

but also participated in American International Assurance Co. Ltd’s (AIA) training programs.

Some programs even included visits to notable government agencies and enterprises, and practical workshops at Fortune 500 companies.

Immersed in a full English-taught academic environment,

they integrated complex financial knowledge with real cases.

Through interaction and case analysis in class,

their world outlook has been broadened and enthusiasm and critical thinking sparked.

 

Singapore lies at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula.

The national language is Malay, with English as the official working language.

Powered by foreign trade,

it has become one of the major financial centers in the world.

With a comprehensive financial system and regulatory regime,

it attracts numerous international financial institutions and investors.

Additionally, Singapore’s advanced transportation networks and infrastructure facilities

make it a key global transport hub

and a major transshipment port,

connecting Asia, Europe, Africa, and Oceania.

Studying and living in such an environment,

students not only gained extensive knowledge

but also truly experienced

the vibrancy of an international financial hub and the richness of multicultural diversity.

CUEBers were highly rewarded in this study program.

Academically,

they experienced the strong academic atmosphere of the top university,

enhanced their professional knowledge,

and stay updated on cutting-edge disciplines.

Practically,

through hands-on corporate training,

they gained early exposure to industry operations and accumulated valuable experience.

Culturally,

the multicultural environment developed their cross-cultural communication skills,

enabling them to make friends from different countries and forge precious friendships.

Yuan Siqi, a Graduate of Grade 2024 from the MBA Education Center of the School of Business Administration

Studying and practicing at NUS helped me a lot. Professors taught us business and finance with real cases, which gave me a deeper understanding of global financial markets. Through group cooperation, I improved my practicing and creative competence in AIA, and I also learned how to communicate and coordinate better. These gains will further influence my study and career development in the future.

Participating in the NUS visiting scholar program was a valuable experience for me. During my week at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, I was immersed in a vibrant academic atmosphere. Through group collaborations with peers from diverse backgrounds, our dynamic discussions sparked a constant exchange of ideas and intellectual inspiration. Through our concerted efforts, we clinched the best team award for the final project presentation; moreover, I was also honored to receive a personal recommendation as an outstanding participant. Beyond academic pursuits, strolling through Singapore’s streets immersed me in the seamless fusion of cutting-edge urban landscapes and profound multicultural legacies, creating an intoxicating intellectual and sensory experience. This experience not only greatly enriched my knowledge but also broadened my horizons, becoming an unforgettable memory in my life.

This academic visit proved invaluable, exposing me to cutting-edge financial theories and inspiring fresh research ideas through communication with international scholars. Field visits to financial institutions offered me direct insight into the inner workings of the financial sector. Studying and living in an entirely English-speaking environment significantly improved my language skills and academic communication abilities, laying a strong foundation for my future scholarly research and career development.

At this top Asian university, I thoroughly studied cutting-edge knowledge about corporate finance. Frequent class interactions and the professors’ rigorous teaching approach sparked my strong interest in academic research. Interacting with classmates from diverse countries broadened my perspectives, while cross-cultural exchanges enhanced my global understanding. This experience not only revealed a broader world to me, but also intensified my anticipation for future academic exploration.

I gained a lot through the Scholar Program of the University of Singapore. In the course of Business and Finance, I attained much knowledge in English learning and finance. I was not only attracted by the academic atmosphere, but also enchanted by Singapore. After visiting the AIA and the Monetary Authority of Singapore, I had a direct understanding of the financial industry, and I even considered Singapore as my choice for studying abroad to delve deeper into finance.

This academic visit to the University of Singapore enriched my campus life. With the appropriate arrangement of business programs and financial courses, this program integrates learning and internship, theory with practice. Cases and card games in the courses motivated me, and the teamwork in designing insurance products enhanced my organizational and collaboration skills. I also learned data analysis methods in an English immersion class. At the same time, I experienced multiculturalism in the visit to Singapore, confirming my resolve to study abroad.
