President Wu Weixing Meets with Jenny Lee and Charles Wang and Their Team from University of Arizona
On the afternoon of October 16, President Wu Weixing met with Jenny Lee, Vice President for Arizona International and Charles Wang, Associate Vice President for China & East Asia Affairs of the University of Arizona (UA), and their team in Boyuan Building. The two sides had an in-depth exchange on promoting cooperative education programs.
Wu greeted Jenny Lee and her team and highlighted the noteworthy advancements of education cooperation. He anticipated to forge a comprehensive strategic partnership with UA. This implies that both universities would continuously create more room for cooperation in applied economics, management, finance and other professional fields and promote student exchanges, faculty visits and collaborative research.
Chen Yanbin, Vice President and member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, stated that CUEB will strengthen cooperation with UA via reciprocal visits, in-depth seminar projects, and academic research.
Lee expressed her appreciation to CUEB for its efforts on cooperative education project and expressed the hope that this project would continue to advance and bear significant fruits in terms of both quantity and quality. She also extended a warm welcome to CUEB’s visit to UA at the end of this year.
After the meeting, Lee and her team participated in a student symposium organized by the School of Data Science. Teachers and students were fully engaged in discussions to share their difficulties and gains in both study and life and put forward valuable opinions for project optimization. Lee, delighted by the students’ discussions, encouraged them to take the bull by the horns and said that participating in this project would be a worthwhile experience.
Then, two freshmen from the School of Data Science introduced the School History Museum to Lee and her team in English, including CUEB’s history, accomplishments, faculty, disciplines, international exchanges and research work, all of which were highly appreciated.
Present at the symposium was Xie Haixia, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchanges Office, Sha Yezhou, Assistant of Director of the International Cooperation and Exchanges Office, and three leaders from the School of Data Science, namely, Li Xiaoou, Secretary of the Party Committee, Zhao Lingfei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Dean Ruan Jing.
