CUEB Deputy Party Secretary Meng Bo Visits China-Africa Business Council

On the afternoon of November 13, Meng Bo, Deputy Party Secretary of CUEB, paid a research visit to the China-Africa Business Council. Wang Xiaoyong, Executive Director of China-Africa Business Council (CABC), greeted the research group and attended the research meeting, which was hosted by Feng Qiang, Deputy Secretary-General of the Council.

Meng Bo introduced CUEB’s major achievements in serving the national strategy and the development of Beijing’s economy and trade, as well as discipline construction and personnel cultivation. He stated that, as a national and international chamber of commerce, China-Africa Business Council (CABC), provided rich expertise and remarkable achievements in promoting two-way in-depth exchanges between China and Africa, as well as boosting South-South cooperation and tripartite cooperation. There are multiple opportunities for cooperation between CUEB and CABC in the think tank construction, project research, language and volunteer services in events, student internship and practice, etc. Meanwhile, the fact that both sides are in Fengtai District facilitates effective in-depth cooperation.

Wang Xiaoyong extended a warm welcome to Meng Bo, and stated that, as a key university in Beijing, CUEB had outstanding disciplinary edges and distinctive personnel cultivation features, especially foreign language, economics, and management, overlapping with the development needs of CABC. He added that the Council was willing to provide a variety of resources to strengthen the two-way cooperation between CABC and CUEB and step up CUEB’s discipline construction and personnel cultivation. He also provided advice to establish a new mode of project-based cooperation to form a stable and long-term partnership, thus leveraging each other’s strengths and achieving win-win outcomes.

Feng Qiang introduced the history and development of China-Africa Business Council (CABC), and said that the Council would provide opportunities for faculty and students of CUEB in social entrepreneurship and people-to-people exchanges. He expressed the hope that the two sides could work jointly to enhance cooperation, and set up a broader institutional platform for deeper personnel cultivation.

Xie Xiaojuan, Party Secretary of the School of Economics, and Yu Hongling, Party Secretary of the School of Foreign Studies, introduced respective subject arrangement, discipline construction, personnel cultivation, and social services.

Participants from both sides also held an in-depth discussion on student internship and practice, exchanges of young teachers, and promoted the signing of a strategic cooperation framework agreement and other cooperations.

Before the meeting, Meng Bo also visited the exhibition hall of China-Africa Belt and Road Cooperation.
