With the theme “Global Services, Shared Prosperity,” the 2024 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) took place from September 12 to 16 at the National Convention Center and Shougang Park in Beijing. As a key participant, CUEB showcased its latest achievements in supporting Beijing’s “Two Zones” (namely, the Integrated National Demonstration Zone for Opening up the Services Sector and the China (Beijing) Pilot Free Trade Zone) construction, ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) development, and the evolution of digital labor in the new era. release further underscored CUEB’s research achievements and enhanced its image, reputation, and social recognition.

Around the theme “Serving the Capital’s Economic and Social Development, Contributing to Chinese Modernization”, CUEB presented key research outcomes, including “Research Achievements on ‘Two Zones’ Construction”, “ESG Development Research Series”, and “Research Series on the Development of Digital Labor in the New Era”.

On September 15, Wu Weixing, Deputy Party Secretary and President of CUEB, led a delegation to attend the research achievements release event. The release was hosted by Yin Zhichao, a member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of CUEB.

In his address, Wu highlighted the university’s notable progress in discipline construction and academic research. He emphasized CUEB’s dedication to impactful research that aligns with major national strategies and the capital’s evolving needs, focusing on critical theoretical and practical issues. By taking a proactive, evidence-based approach, the university has been at the forefront of research in areas such as the “Two Zones” construction, ESG, and digital labor, thereby consistently enhancing its academic influence and social contributions. Wu expressed his hope that this release event would extend the reach of CUEB’s research, supporting government decision-making and academic experts, and ultimately contributing to the country’s economic and social development.

Subsequently, a conference showcasing research accomplishments was convened. Professor Zhao Jiazhang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Economics, presented “research achievements on ‘Two Zones’ development” on behalf of his team. He gave a detailed introduction from three aspects: the research team, main results and latest achievements highlighting China Digital Trade Development Report 2024, an important achievement of the “Innovation Center for Two Zones”, which focuses on building a stronger country in trade. Professor Sun Zhongjuan, member and Deputy Dean of the Party Committee of the College of Business Administration shared “Research outcomes of ESG Development”. She delivered a detailed introduction from three aspects: the ESG standardization project research team, the ESG “1+N+X” standard system, and the latest achievements. She also highlighted the ESG general, industry and special standards developed by the research group, as well as a series of monographs such as Corporate ESG Management and ESG Investment. Professor He Qin, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Labor Economics, delivered “Research Results on Digital Labor Development in the New Era” on behalf of her team. She gave a thorough introduction to the historical accumulation, main achievements, and latest findings, focusing on the representative outcomes of the team’s long-term focus on a quality workforce, Report on the Talent Development of China’s Innovative Talent (2024) China’s Innovative Talent Development Report 2024, and the results of artificial intelligence and employment.

In the closing speech, Yin Zhichao emphasized that as a crucial platform in promoting international cooperation and exchange and global innovation, CIFTIS has provided a vast platform for win-win cooperation. CUEB also looks forward to deepening cooperation with companies and institutions, producing high-quality research achievements for the capital and national development in the new era.

On September 14, Wu Weixing accepted an interview from CCTV. He introduced the highlights of these achievements and the reasons for choosing CIFTIS as the release platform. He stated that these research findings showcased CUEB’s active service to the capital’s economic and social development and its contribution to Chinese modernization, and provided in-depth insights and suggestions for researchers and policymakers in related fields.

Wu Weixing emphasized that CIFTIS, a national exhibition for the whole world, focuses on the digital, intelligent, and green development trend of service trade, and displays new technologies and applications, fueling innovation among various industries. The achievement release platform of the CIFTIS provides an important opportunity for higher education to display, exchange, cooperate and transform, contributing to the application and transformation of theoretical research and intensive cooperation between government, industry, learning, research and application. All of these initiatives aim to provide targeted wisdom to the nation’s economic and social development, as well as the construction of capital’s functional areas.

Present at CIFTIS were Fu Lin, Minister of the Standing Committee of School Party Committee and the Party Committee Publicity Department; Fan Hejun, Director of the Office of Research; Liu Xuexin, Dean of College of Business Administration and of the China ESG Institute; Zheng Wenke and He Feng, Vice Directors of the Office of Research; Wang Kai, Deputy Dean of College of Business Administration; Du Pengcheng, Vice Dean of School of Economics; Miao Rentao, Deputy Dean of School of Labor Economics; Gao Yuan, Assistant Director of the Office of Research. Over 80 teachers and students attended the meeting.
