On April 10th, Fu Zhifeng, President of CUEB, met with Prof. Rod Carr, Vice Chancellor of the University of Canterbury, and his delegation in Boyuan Building. The two sides had a friendly discussion on student joint training programs and further cooperation.

Fu Zhifeng extended warm welcome to the delegation, and then he pointed out that CUEB and the University of Canterbury are similar in size, and there is great potential for cooperation in signature majors like business. At present, the two universities already have a good foundation for cooperation. The joint training programs, such as double-degree programs for undergraduates, combined undergraduate-graduate programs and double-degree programs for postgraduates run smoothly. Fu hoped that the two universities will continue to expand cooperation and promote teacher academic exchanges and scientific researches collaboration.

Prof. Rod Carr said that University of Canterbury attached great importance to international exchanges, especially the cooperation with Chinese universities. He hoped that more students of CUEB will study in New Zealand, at the same time, students and teachers of the University of Canterbury could exchange at CUEB, further deepening cooperation between the two universities. Prof. Rod Carr sincerely invited Fu Zhifeng to visit the University of Canterbury.

Heads of the Office of Teaching Affairs, Graduate School and related schools had a discussion on undergraduate and postgraduate exchange programs. After a brief introduction of educational background of postgraduates, Zhou Mingsheng, Dean of the Graduate School, hoped to strengthen cooperation on postgraduates joint training programs with the University of Canterbury.

The two sides officially established cooperative ties in 2015. The University of Canterbury signed agreements of double-degree joint training programs for undergraduates, combined bachelor and master’s degree program and double-degree programs for postgraduates with the School of Public Finance and Taxation, School of Accounting and School of Finance. Up to date, CUEB has sent off 11 students to participate in the cooperation program in New Zealand.
