CUEB Holds 2024 Commencement Ceremony

On the morning of June 14, the 2024 Commencement Ceremony and Degree Conferment Ceremony took place at CUEB’s playground. Present at the ceremony were Wang Wenju, Party Secretary of CUEB; Wu Weixing, Deputy Party Secretary of CUEB and President; Xu Fang and Meng Bo, Deputy Party Secretaries; Li Xiaomu, Vice President, Mao Baizhang, members of Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Secretaries of the Discipline Inspection Commission; Yin Zhichao and Yao Linxiu, members of Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice Presidents. The ceremony was presided over by Li Kunpeng, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President.

The ceremony opened with the songs performed by student representatives.

Wang Wenju, Party Secretary of CUEB, formally announced the Graduation Permission for the Class of 2024 Undergraduates and the conferment of diplomas. In 2024, a total of 1,684 master’s graduates graduated, including 69 doctoral degrees and 1,667 master’s degrees. A total of 2,947 undergraduate and associate degree graduates successfully graduated, with 3,091 graduates receiving bachelor’s degrees.

Deputy Party Secretary Xu Fang announced the honors bestowed upon 246 Graduates, including Zhang Yiming, recognized as “Beijing Outstanding Graduates”, and 62 Graduates, including Tudeng Langjie honored for serving in community. In 2024, a total of 159 undergraduates and 87 postgraduates were honored for “Beijing Outstanding Graduates”, and 62 graduates dedicated themselves to community and Western China. CUEB leadership awarded Certificates of Honor to these graduates.

In efforts to strengthen alumni ties, CUEB appointed 214 alumni liaisons from the Class of 2023 undergraduates. Yin Zhichao, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President, presented an appointment letter to Sun Jun, representing the undergraduates of 2024, and He Jingyi, representing Class of 2024 postgraduates.

Representing the Class of 2024 graduates, Wang Lu from the School of Accounting made a speech, titled “Inheriting the spirit of CUEB”, reflecting on her personal growth, contributions to the school and society, expressing gratitude to CUEB, teachers, and classmates.

Huo Haotian from the School of Law, representing the post-graduates, made a speech, titled “Farewell to CUEB, embracing the Future”, expressing deep appreciation for the three years at CUEB, and urging peers to accumulate strength, pursue dreams, and embody the spirit of the new era in their future endeavors.

Professor Chen Wei, Dean of the School of Management and Engineering, spoke as a faculty representative. He recalled moments shared with students, emphasizing the importance of diligence, innovation, responsibility, and perseverance. He encouraged graduates to keep their enthusiasm for learning, adapt to changing times, bravely shoulder responsibilities, stay true to their original aspirations, and forge ahead with courage.

Yuan Chongsheng, alumnus from the Class of 1998 and currently Party Secretary and Executive Director of China Coal International Company, spoke as an alumni representative, drawing on his work experience to urge graduates to keep a down-to-earth manner, clarify career plans, cherish their youth, and strive to commit themselves to Alma Mater.

President Wu Weixing congratulated the Class of 2024, recalling their academic performance, social engagements, and volunteer activities, encouraging them to uphold CUEB’s values and its spirit: to aim high and stay grounded, to uphold strong morals and attend to details, to achieve great causes and love life. He urged them to demonstrate the ambition, confidence, courage, and integrity, to embrace the school motto “advocate morality, value competence, strategize national development, and serve the people”, to remain righteous and principled, to work diligently and persistently, to shoulder responsibilities bravely, and to proudly represent CUEB in their future endeavors.

Afterwards, the university leaders awarded degrees to all doctoral graduates and graduate representatives who will be working in the western regions and grassroots areas. The Academic Degrees Committee authorized each college to confer degrees on their respective graduates.

The ceremony concluded with a touching performance of the original song Chasing Light Amidst the Crowd by a Class of 2024 representative.

As a special gift, the school gifted each graduate a rose and sunflower, which were planted by students during this year’s Arbor Day. The school expressed its best wishes to the graduates, encouraging them to cherish their wonderful memories at CUEB and embark on their new journeys with blessings and expectations.

The ceremony was attended by heads of relevant functional departments, alumni representatives, deans, secretaries, deputy secretaries of all colleges, all counselors, class advisors, as well as the entire Class of 2024. Additionally, nearly 20,000 parents and alumni watched the live broadcast on the school’s official WeChat video channel.
