The 5th Party Congress of CUEB was successfully held on the afternoon of November 19, with all the agenda completed well. The closing meeting was held at Zhuoyu Auditorium with President Wu Weixing as the host, and CUEB Party Secretary Wang Wenju made a closing speech. Wang Lifeng and Zhu Zixuan, staff members of Education Work Committee of Beijing Municipal Committee attended the meeting.  

Wang Wenju expressed that with the joint efforts of all the delegates, the Congress completed all the agenda. It was an extraordinary, democratic, and progressive meeting in terms of liberating thought, converging consensus, and moving forward. Beijing Municipal Party Committee andthe People’s Government of Beijing Municipality attached great importance to this meeting. The Organization Department of Beijing Municipal CPC Committee, Beijing Municipal Education Working Committee and Beijing Municipal Education Commission put forward new expectations, requirements, and guidance for the development of CUEB into high-level research university. Wang emphasized the importance to comprehend and implement the guidance.

Wang mentioned that during the Congress, the delegates performed their duties and offered suggestions for CUEB’s development, reflecting their full enthusiasm and the sense of mission and responsibility to the causes of the Party and CUEB. Wang also extended heartfelt gratitude to all the comrades who cared about and supported the work of CUEB Party Congress, and to the teachers, staffs, and students who have made contributions to CUEB’s development since the 4th Party Congress.

Wang remarked that the 5th Party Congress comprehensively summarized the major work and achievements of CUEB since the 4th Party Congress, and drew a blueprint for the future development. The next five years will be a crucial period for CUEB to accelerate the construction of China’s first-class and worldly-renowned university of finance and economics with distinctive features. The new Party Committee and Commission for Discipline Inspection will take on important responsibilities. Wang called on all teachers and students to take the 5th Party Congress as a new starting point and assume great responsibilities to cultivate personnel for the Party and the country under the leadership of the new Party Committee. What’s more, we need to comprehensively act on  Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era , implement the Party’s educational policy and the plan to develop China via education, serve the Chinese modernization and the development of the capital in a new era. The entity responsibility of self-supervision and self-governance and school management should be exercised, so that we can successfully achieve all the goals and tasks to create a bright future.

Wu Weixing emphasized that the 5th Party Congress, as a milestone in CUEB development history, will have a significant impact on promoting the high-quality development of CUEB’s Party building and school construction in the new era. All the delegates should play exemplary vanguard roles, and Party organizations at all levels should take studying and implementing the spirit of the Congress as an important task and transform the enthusiasm into a strong driving force for promoting the development.

Chief Scrutineer Wang Minghui reported the results to the Congress. Wu Weixing announced the names of the elected members. Altogether, 25 members were elected to the new Party Committee, and 9 to the new Commission for Discipline Inspection.

Resolution of the 5th Party Congress of   CUEB   on the Report on the Work of the Fourth Committee  and  Resolution of the 5th Party Congress of   CUEB   on the Report on the Work of th  e   4th   Commission for Discipline Inspection  were approved in an open vote in the meeting. The Committee on Proposals submitted a written report on the collection of proposals to the Congress.

During the Congress, 46 proposals were submitted, with 284 delegates participating in. These proposals covered various aspects, including personnel cultivation, teaching staff construction, scientific research, soft and hard facilities, and construction of smart campus.

During the Congress, the presidium and delegations held separate meetings to deliberate on and discuss issues including the report on the work of the Party Committee and Commission for Discipline Inspection, the report on the collection, use and management of Party membership dues, resolutions on the work reports of the Party Committee and Commission for Discipline Inspection (draft), the election proceduresfor the Congress (draft), the recommendations for candidates for members of the Party Committee and Commission for Discipline Inspection, the proposed list of scrutineers and the chief scrutineer, and the appointment of vote counters.

Meng Bo, General Secretary of the Congress, presided over the election. The meeting adopted the election procedures, approved the list of candidates for members of the Party Committee and Commission for Discipline Inspection, the proposed list of scrutineers and the chief scrutineer, and announced the list of vote counters, and carried out the elections.

After the closing meeting, the First Plenary Session of Commission for Discipline Inspection ofthe Fifth CUEB Party Committee was held. The session discussed and adopted the  Election Procedures for the First Plenary Session of Commission for Discipline Inspection of the 5th CUEB Party Committee , as well as thelist of candidates and scrutineers, and appointed the vote counters. The secretary and deputy secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection were elected.

Subsequently, the First Plenary Session of the Fifth CUEB Party Committee was held. The session discussed and adopted the  Election Procedures for the First Plenary Session of the 5th Committee of CUEB Party Committee , as well as the list of candidates and scrutineers, and appointed the vote counters. The session elected the members of the standing Party committee, secretary, and deputy secretary of the 5th CUEB Party committee. The session approved the election results of the First Plenary Session of the Commission for Discipline Inspection ofthe 5th CUEB Party Committee.
