CUEB Convenes Middle-Level Cadre Meeting to Outline Agenda for 2024
On the morning of March 7, CUEB convened the middle-level cadre meeting at the Lecture Hall of the Boxue Building to deploy the work for 2024. Wang Wenju, Secretary of CUEB Party Committee, presided over the meeting and made a speech. Wu Weixing, Deputy Secretary of CUEB Party Committee and President made work deployment. Other attendees included CUEB leaders, members of the Party Standing Committee, the Assistant Principal (Taking a temporary post), and all middle-level cadres.
Wang Wenju commended the school’s achievements and expressed gratitude to all faculty and students. He put forward key strategies to accelerate the construction of CUEB as a first-class research university with global recognition, with emphasis on the following points to fulfill the tasks of high-quality development in 2024.
• Firstly, strengthen the leadership of Party building. We should promote the deep integration of Party building with career development, leveraging the leading role of the Party Committee and primary-level Party organizations.
• Secondly, foster excellence in undergraduate and graduate education. We should take undergraduate education quality evaluation as an opportunity to optimize teaching styles, uphold school value, innovate personnel training mode, and improve enrollment and employment quality.
• Thirdly, promote discipline construction and degree authorization based on the national discipline assessment index system, addressing identified limitations.
• Fourthly, align with national strategies and capital development needs in the new era, coordinate with government at all levels, undertake various projects, and produce more influential outcomes.
• Fifthly, steadily promote the reform of the personnel system and performance pay system to invigorate faculty.
• Sixthly, enhance the campus environment to build a “happy home” for faculty and students. We should act on CUEB’s motto “Advocate Morality, Value Competence, Strategize National Development, and Serve the People”.
• Seventhly, deepen the exchanges at home and abroad, fostering Sino-foreign educational cooperation, and cooperating with the government, enterprises, and other universities to enhance the school’s influence and reputation.
• Eighthly, promote the modernization of the governance system and governance capacity to support the school’s various undertakings.
Wu Weixing conveyed insights from recent meetings of the Party Central Committee and the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, reviewed the school’s work during the 2023 and 2024 winter holidays, and outlined key tasks for 2024.
• Firstly, strengthen the overall leadership of the Party to drive the high-quality development of the school with high-quality Party building.
• Secondly, deepen the reform of the personnel cultivation mode, do a good job in the new round of undergraduate education and teaching quality evaluation, pursue digital intelligence transformation in personnel training, and further optimize the postgraduate training to ensure comprehensive high-quality employment.
• Thirdly, boost the multidisciplinary integration, innovation, and the construction of the Beijing Institute of Digital Economy Development to embrace the high-quality development of disciplines.
• Fourthly, advance the application and transformation of scientific research findings, actively conduct organized scientific research, and strengthen the construction of a new type of think tank.
• Fifthly, improve faculty quality, introduce more high-level personnel, reform the personnel system, and cultivate a professional personnel team to accelerate the building of Beijing as a world hub for talent and innovation.
• Sixthly, create a new pattern for internationalized school running in all aspects, expand international student enrollment, deepen cooperation between universities, local governments, and enterprises, to explore more resources for school operations.
• Seventhly, refine internal governance and improve working mechanisms to promote high-quality development through performance appraisal. We will further pursue law-based regulation and take immediate response to any reported concern. We will also improve the campus environment, build a safer campus, and continuously enhance the sense of achievement, happiness, and safety of faculty and students.
The meeting also reported the results of the annual assessment of the school leadership team in 2023.
