CUEB Holds Symposium for Staff from United Front Work
On September 20, CUEB held a symposium for staff from united front work. Wang Wenju, Party Secretary of CUEB, Wu Weixing, Deputy Party Secretary and President and Li Xiaomu, Vice President, attended this symposium. Mengbo, Deputy Party Secretary of CUEB presided over the meeting. Hao Ruyu, Deputy Director of the 11th and 12th Financial and Economic Affairs Commission of the National People’s Congress (NPC), Leader of the Non-Party Experts and Intellectuals Proposal Group and Financial Group of the United Front Work Division of CPCCentral Committee, and Chief Expert of the National Tax Law Research Base, was invited to attend the meeting as a guest.
Wang Wenju first extended gratitude to the staff from united front work for their contributions to the university’s think tank and the discipline over the years. Wang pointed out NPC deputies have close contact with members of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), leaders of democratic parties and governments at all levels to build a bridge between CUEB and industry research. Thus, our university can better serve the high-quality development of the capital. According to the new leadership, the development of CUEB in the next 5 to 10 years necessitates advice from the united front personnel. In accordance with both the school’s work concept of “building strength, establishing image, strengthening construction, deepening reform, and improving quality” and the “six major projects” for improving school’s quality, the new leadership members should actively expand resources, build platforms, and stimulate vitality as well. They should be in charge of implementing the plan to develop China via education and serve the Chinese modernization drive, the development of the capital in a new era, and the high-quality development of our university.
Wu Weixing met with representatives of united front work and expressed gratitude for their sincere suggestions over the years, as well as the performance of NPC deputies and CPPCC members at all levels.
Meng Bo introduced the preparations for the 5th Party Congress of CUEB and sincerely invited the attending teachers to offer suggestions for our university’s high-quality development.
Li Xiaomu reported on the new measures and key work of the school’s autumn semester in improving the quality of personnel training, deepening the discipline construction, promoting organized research, building a high-quality professional teaching team, and enhancing management competence.
The attending representatives shared their opinions on ways of pooling forces to promote CUEB’s high-quality development.
Hao Ruyu introduced the construction of the National Tax Law Research Base and his performance as a think tank expert and expressed gratitude for the school’s assistance over the years. He expressed that the new leadership, full of enthusiasm, can greatly motivate the stafffrom united front work to make further contributions.
Professor Guo Yuanyuan, member of the National Committee of the CPPCC and Vice President of the Academy of Metropolis Economic and Social Development, stated that as a member from united front work, she deeply considered how to serve the development of the country, capital and school. She also proposed ways to effectively play the role of a high-end think tank, utilize school research resources, form a linkage mechanism with the Beijing municipal government, and activatesocial resources of united front workers so as to constructnew school think tanks.
Zhang Qiang, former counselor of the Beijing Municipal Government and professor of the College of Urban Economics and Public Administration, stated that the university needs to continuously improve its discipline construction, and cultivate and introduce high-level disciplinary leading teachers. Young teachers should learn from experienced professors, combine theory with practice, and conduct research based on national needs and CUEB’s development.
Professor Liu Xuexin, member of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC and dean of the College of Business Administration, stated that as a member of the CPPCC, we need to establish contact with the government and enterprises and build academic research platforms and student internship bases to promote the integration of resources. To better serve capital development, we will further strengthen research on work mechanisms and form teams, enhancing long-term mechanisms.
Liu Ying, deputy of the Beijing Municipal People’s Congress and professor of the School of Public Finance and Taxation, stated that high-quality development requires the joint efforts of teachers and students. The Party Congress has pointed out goals and paths for our future development. It is recommended to establish a classification mechanism for teachers’ development, fully leverage the expertise of teachers in different areas and handle the relationship between academic and applied research for our university’s high-quality development.
An Shuwei, member of the Standing Committee of the Fengtai District People’s Congress and professor of the College of Urban Economics and Public Administration, stated that the campus’s new changes in the new semester have filled teachers and students with great expectation for future development. He hoped to deepen reform and innovation in the working mechanism of discipline leaders and in the students’ core competitiveness, improving the quality of personnel cultivation.
Li Qingmiao, member of the Fengtai District Committee of the CPPCC and associate professor of the College of Urban Economics and Public Administration, stated that the experience as a non-party teacher selected by the school Party Committee to take temporary training at the Linkong District Management Committee has greatly enriched himself. He designed teaching cases according to practical problems based on research, and applied research results to solving practical problems. The college has signed a joint construction agreement with the Linkong District Management Committee to further broaden channels and serve capital development.
At the meeting, leaders and teachers held a brief retirement ceremony for Professor Zhang Qiang, who had just retired as a counselor of the Beijing Municipal Government. Wang Wenju expressed gratitude to Professor Zhang for his outstanding contributions to the university’s development over the years and expected that he would continue to support the development of disciplines and the school’s undertakings after his retirement.
Present at the meeting was Zhao Guang, Director of the Organization Department and United Front Work Division of the Party Committee, Sun Qingfu, Deputy Director of the United Front Work Divison, NPC’s non-party deputies at all levels, CPPCC members, leaders of primary-level organizations of other political parties, non-party cadres at the level of deputy director, and leaders of CUEB’s Friendship Association for Non-Party Intellectuals and the Friendship Association of Overseas Returnees
