CUEB Scholars Rank Among 2025 World’s Top 2% Scientist

Recently, Stanford University and Elsevier, an international authoritative academic publishing house, jointly released 2025 World’s Top 2% Scientists List. Three CUEB scholars, namely, Zhang Dongyang, Chen Wei and Wang Dadi, have been named to the “Career-long Impact List”, and five scholars, namely, Zhang Dongyang, He Feng, Chen Wei, Wang Dadi and Hao Jing, named to the “Single-year Impact List”.

World’s Top 2% Scientists List

Released on Elsevier’s Mendeley Data, the list of global top 2% scientists is the cooperation between Elsevier and Professor John P. A. Ioannidis’ team. It serves as a comprehensive criterion to measure scientists’ long-term research performance, showing scientists’ influence more objectively. The list selects global top 2% scientists from about 7 million scientists who are classified into 22 research fields and 176 subfields, measuring their “Career-long Impact” and “Single-year Impact”.

Based on Scopus data, this selection considers 6 standards, including papers cited times, H index, and HM index. Once the scientist is selected, it means that he or she has a high impact over the world in the research field. This release presents the 2025 version. Data for “Career-long Impact List” shows the update acquired by the end of 2024 and for “Single-year Impact List” reflects the citations obtained during 2024.

Introduction to the Listed Scholars

Zhang Dongyang, professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Economics, Deputy Director of the Personnel Office, a Beijing High-level Returnee, and Beijing Young Scholar.

In 2025, he was named to the “Career-long Impact List” of World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University. In fact, from 2022 to 2025, he has been listed consecutively as the World’s Top 2% Scientists, Elsevier Highly Cited Chinese Researchers, and “Leader of Distinguished Young Scholars” of CUEB. Since January 2020, he has been an editor of Finance Research Letters . He has led over 10 national and provincial-level research projects and published over 80 academic papers as the primary author or the first author in prestigious domestic and international journals, such as the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Energy Economics, China Economic Review, Economic Management Journal, Public Finance Research, and Economic Theory and Business Management.

Chen Wei, Dean and professor of the School of Management and Engineering, Doctoral Supervisor, and Beijing Great Wall Scholar

He is the Director of the CUEB Quantitative Finance Research Center (QFSC), Executive Director of the Society, Executive Director of the Intelligent Computing Branch of the Operations Research Society of China (ORSC), Director of the Chinese Society of Optimization, Overall Planning and Economical Mathematics, and the editorial board member of Systems Engineering-Theory & Practice, Chinese Journal of Management Science. He serves as Associate Editor of Socio-Economic Planning Sciences and editor-in-chief of special issues of other journals, the Director of Theoretical Research Center at the China ESG Institute, and has chaired many research projects such as the NSFC. His research findings have been published in Operations Research, European Journal of Operational Research (EJOR), Annals of Tourism Research, Energy Economics and other journals, and many papers have been selected as hot papers and highly cited papers.

He Feng, professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Finance, is also the Deputy Director of the Office of Research at CUEB, the Director of the Climate Finance Research Center at the China ESG Institute, and national-level young professional.

Among them, there are more than 10 ESI highly-cited papers.

Hao Jing, associate professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Accounting, is a “Leader of Distinguished Young Scholar” of CUEB

Research Areas: Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Corporate Finance, Green Finance, Behavioral Finance

She has led four projects, including the Youth Project funded by the NSFC and the High-end Science and Technology Innovation Think Tank Project of the Strategic Development Department of China Association for Science and Technology. Three governmental reports have been recognized by provincial and ministerial officials. She has published a monograph titled Investor Attention and Corporate Governance. She has published more than 40 papers in authoritative journals both at home and abroad such as Journal of Management Sciences in China, Systems Engineering-Theory & Practice, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Technological Forecasting and Social Change , and many papers have been selected as ESI highly-cited papers. She serves as the 14th Director of the Social and Economic Systems Engineering Committee of the Systems Engineering Society of China, Associate Editor of Managerial & Decision Economics , and Guest Editor of Energy Economics and Pacific-Basin Finance Journal.
