On September 14, Wu Weixing, Deputy Party Secretary and President of CUEB, led a delegation to attend the research achievements release conference at the CIFTIS. Ding Jianhua, Level I Bureau Rank Official of Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau, and Zhu Ying, Vice President of CICG (China International Communications Group) Academy of Translation and Interpretation, delivered addresses. Yin Zhichao, Member of Party Standing Committee and Vice President of CUEB, presided over the event.

In his speech, Wu Weixing introduced the university’s notable achievements indiscipline construction and research outcomes. He stated that CUEB adheres to the “excellence in basic research coupled with practical application” guideline, actively serves national major strategies and the development needs of the capital in the new era, focuses on major theoretical and practical issues, plans ahead and lays out scientifically. The university is committed to conducting high-quality forward-looking and strategic research. Against the backdrop of a global services trade that is turning digital, smart and green, the university has focused on emerging fields such as digital trade, terminology standards, and Multilateral Central Bank Digital Currency Bridge (m-CBDC Bridge). The think-tank output is already shaping China’s rule-making, spurring industrial innovation and informing international cooperation, and continuously contributing intellectual resources and strength to promoting China’s high-standard opening-up.

Ding Jianhua noted that the three achievements released by CUEB at this CIFTIS map the full landscape of China’s digital trade while focusing on main challenges such as terminology standards and cross-border payments. They are the academic achievements of years of in-depth theoretical research of CUEB and the crystallization of “government, industry, academia, research, and application”. And they will have a positive impact on promoting the development of service trade and digital trade in the future. He pledged to deepen joint work with CUEB and other partners to accelerate industrial upgrading.

Zhu Ying hailed the release of the Chinese-English Terminology Database for Trade in Services calling terminology standardization is the bedrock for implementing the national strategy of expanding institutional opening-up and aligning with international rules. Built through “government, industry, academia, research, and application”, the terminology database irons out long-standing term clashes and clears rule-mismatch hurdles. She stated that CICG Academy of Translation and Interpretation will keep teaming with scholars and business to give international services trade language support.

Themed “Gaining insights into the Frontiers of Trade in Services Development, Serving the Nation’s High-Level Opening-Up”, CUEB focused on major theoretical and practical issues the development of service trade, and launched three research outcomes of industry-leading and practical value: China Digital Trade Development Report (2025) , Chinese-English Terminology Database for Trade in Services , and Multilateral Central Bank Digital Currency Bridge Project Boosts Cross-Border Trade and Renminbi Internationalization . These three research outputs, distinguished by their industry-leading significance and practical value, fully demonstrate the university’s research strength and social responsibility in responding to national strategies and serving the development of the capital.

Zhao Jiazhang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Economics of CUEB, released China Digital Trade Development Report 2025 . It maps China’s digital trade rise and the global race: e-commerce is surging on a “symbiosis” of markets, firms and rules, while Beijing, empowered by its “Two Zones” policy, is turning itself into a world digital trade hub.

Liu Chongxiao, Deputy Party Secretary and Dean of the School of Foreign Studies of CUEB, released the “Chinese-English Terminology Database for Trade in Services”, the world’s first professional terminology database in the field of trade in services. Built with AI and large-language models, the 273-term set is mined from one million words of text and spans finance, telecom and digital commerce. Jointly compiled by CUEB, Beijing International Trade in Services Affairs Center, and CICG Academy of Translation and Interpretation, it lays the linguistic foundation for advancing the digitalization, intelligent development, and standardization of trade in services.

Li Ping, Executive Vice Dean of the Institute of Beijing Digital Economy Development at CUEB, released Multilateral Central Bank Digital Currency Bridge Project Boosts Cross-Border Trade and Renminbi Internationalization . The report analyzes the interaction mechanisms among the m-CBDC Bridge, digital renminbi, and stablecoins, as well as their synergistic effects in promoting cross-border trade and the internationalization of the renminbi. It provides theoretical support and practical pathways for the application of digital currencies in international economic and trade scenarios.

In his concluding remarks, Yin Zhichao emphasized that as a vital platform for promoting international cooperation and global innovation, CIFTIS provides various opportunities for win-win cooperation. Our university will keep working with enterprises and public institutions to produce high-quality research outcomes, thereby injecting academic momentum into national strategic initiatives and Beijing in the new era.

Attendees included Fu Lin, Member of Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Director of the Publicity Department; Fan Hejun, Director of the Office of Research; Wang Haipeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of School of Foreign Studies; Zheng Wenkai, Deputy Director of the Office of Research; Zhao Haiyong, Deputy Dean of the School of Foreign Studies, and over 60 faculty and students from the university.

On September 12, Wu Weixing granted the interview from CCTV regarding the released research findings and the university’s personnel cultivation. He emphasized that theses research outcomes represent the university’s latest bid to fuel Beijing’s growth and serve China’s high-level opening-up, providing analysis and actionable policy recommendations for scholars and policymakers.

Wu outlined CUEB’s personnel cultivation: the new “Zhuoyu Academy”, interdisciplinary majors and English-taught courses that together create the “flagship liberal arts class” of the capital. The goal is to foster graduates with a sense of national pride, international vision, digital literacy, and professional competence.

Additionally, President Wu noted that CUEB has organized faculty and students to volunteer at the CIFTIS for six consecutive years. In 2025, the university dispatched 40 volunteers to escort summit guests, sharpening their expertise and showcasing the next generation’s readiness to serve the country.
