CUEB Alumni Association Established in London

On May 26th, CUEB Alumni Association (UK) was founded at 11 o’clock local time in London. Ding Lihong, Deputy President of CUEB, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Sun Tao, postgraduate of Deakin’s program of the Class of 2003, and Xu Ruowei, graduate in commercial economics of the Class of 1986, was elected as President and Vice President of the standing council & General Secretary respectively.


On behalf of CUEB, Ding celebrated the establishment of CUEB Alumni Association (UK) and thanked the alumni. With a review of the development of CUEB overseas alumni association, he pointed out that alumni are an asset to CUEB and CUEB cares about the growth of alumni. Next, he drew a general picture of CUEB in light of talent-nurturing, scientific research and international exchanges, saying that building up China’s first-class and worldly-renowned university of finance and economics calls for strength and wisdom of alumni. He hoped that, through this organization, alumni could further strengthen their bonds with other alumni in the UK and in China, make strides together in a bid to push the Alma Mater forward.   

Xu made an introduction on how AA(UK) was prepared. Geng Zixuan, graduate of information management and information system of the Class of 2018, read some items of Chapter of AA which was passed in the conference.


Zhao Xiling, Director of Office of Cooperation Affairs and Vice President & Secretary of General Alumni Association, shared experience about domestic and overseas AAs, introducing principles of candidate selection and candidates of President, Vice President, Secretary and Vice Secretary, who were approved in an open vote in the meeting. There were four alumni who joined the service team of AA (UK).


As the first President, Sun Tao extended welcome as well as gratification for leaders and teachers of CUEB. He said after experiencing ups and downs abroad, one could attach more importance to both alumni and AA. In addition, AA (UK) will serve as a reliable back for students and teachers in the UK and also give a hand, helping CUEB to deepen its cooperation with the UK in terms of culture and education and to speed up the globalizing process. In order to make AA (UK) more distinctive, he will spread “Camel Spirit” to make contributions to the friendship between the Chinese and the British.

Xu Tao, Deputy President of AA and Deputy President of Postgraduate Alumni Association, talked about his “Three Ms Theory”, which means that only when one loves his mother, Alma mater and motherland can he be a dignified person. He hopes that AA (UK) can be a spiritual home for alumni in the UK and he delivered his father’s calligraphy, Long Live the Motherland, as a gift to the AA (UK).


Later, Ding and Zhao presented a flag to AA (UK).

Ma Liping, Professor from School of Statistics, Li Baixing, Deputy President from School of Accounting and Wei Huaying, Deputy Professor from School of Labor Economics introduced their schools separately and shared their stories about CUEB. All alumni expressed their appreciation of CUEB and recognition of its culture.


Hosted by Xu, 20-odd alumni in the UK participated in the conference.
