CUEB Wins Award in Fitness Program Show for Beijing’s University Retired Staff
On May 29th, a show themed “Dance to Celebrate China’s 70-year Anniversary & Workout to Enjoy Golden Years” was held at Cupes Sports & Culture Center of Capital University of Physical Education and Sports. Close to 1000 retired staff from 32 universities in Beijing participated the activity to demonstrate senior fitness programs. Finally, the senior aerobics team from CUEB was awarded “Best Performance”.
Qian Chen, Deputy Director of the Retired Cadres Bureau of Beijing Committee of the CPC, Liu Xinjun, Director of Retired Cadres Department of Education Work Committee of Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPC, Wang Jian, President of Beijing Old Educators Association, and Cui Wenzhi, Vice President of Beijing College for Retired Cadres and Beijing Party School for Retired Cadres Education attended the opening ceremony, which was presided over by Zhang Yan, Director of Beijing Retired Cadres Activity Center.
The demonstration this year featured aerobics and fitness dance. The energetic seniors in colorful clothes, moving in formation, were joyfully dancing to the music, sometimes gentle, and sometimes exciting. Briskly and regularly, they were swaying and jumping, showing to the fullest their charming and vitality. Through the activity, they showed the positive attitude in their pursuits of more joyful and fulfilling lives in old age.
The senior aerobic dancing team of CUEB is composed of 42 retired members, backbone of three associations from the university. Their dancing was accompanied by the classic song My Motherland and I. Though with an average age of 64, the dancers took the award “Best Performance” symbolizing the positive and optimistic CUEBers.
