On July 3rd, in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the cultivation project for personnel with high academic achievements, the 2019 meeting for academic mainstays in CUEB was held in press conference hall in the Boyuan Building. CUEB Party Secretary Feng Pei, President Fu Zhifeng and vice President Wang Chuansheng attended the meeting, which was presided over by Shang Xiaohui, Director of Personnel Office and Teachers’ Affairs Office of CUEB Party Committee.

At the meeting, Wang Chuansheng announced the evaluation results of teachers selected for the cultivation project after the expiration of the funding period in 2016, the mid-term evaluation results of teachers in 2017 project and the list of teachers selected for the 2019 cultivation project.

Wang Chuansheng issued commemorative medals for qualified and outstanding personnel in the 2016 project.   

Feng Pei issued participating certificates for newly selected teachers in 2019.

Then, participants watched the publicity video "Press Ahead While Young, Set sail for Dreams". The video reviews the ten-year development of the cultivation project. Between 2010 and 2019, five CUEB scholars, 96 backing discipline leaders and 180 outstanding young and middle-aged teachers selected to the cultivation project achieved fruitful results in scientific research, talent training and discipline development, becoming the mainstays of CUEB’s development.

Afterwards, Liu Xuexin, Dean of the College of Business Administration, Chen Lei, teacher from the School of Public Finance and Taxation, and Zhang Dongyang, teacher from the School of Economics, shared their gains and insights in the cultivation project.

Professor Yang Chunxue of the School of Economics addressed attending teachers, hoping first that all teachers can be “engineers of the human soul” who are loyal to the Party and the people with more patience and better performance; second that all teachers can press home the mission of "promoting teaching through scientific research", and resolve doubts while imparting knowledge with expertise and scientific achievement in place; third that all teachers can strengthen cooperative research, create a good academic atmosphere, and constantly tap and train more young teachers.

Fu Zhifeng stressed that currently, what top CUEB’s agenda were: first, strengthening major building with the opportunity of the “double 10,000 plan”, continuing to bring talent graduating to a higher level; second, strengthening discipline building, enhancing the cohesion and competitiveness of CUEB, and making every effort count in the fifth round of discipline evaluation in 2020, so as to make CUEB a better university and gradually build it into China’s first-class and worldly-renowned university of finance and economics.

In his speech, Feng Pei put forward specific requirements for the teachers from three dimensions, that is, "team spirit, research accuracy and sustained efforts". First of all, teachers with high academic achievements should enhance the awareness to work in teams. While getting one’s own job done well, teachers should also serve and support team building to achieve win-win cooperation across disciplines. Secondly, in scientific research, teachers should serve the development strategy of both the city and country, continue to improve the accuracy of scientific research, explore ways to disciplinary innovation, ensuring that all disciplines enjoy continuous improvement. Finally, Feng Pei hoped that the selected teachers would continue to pursue greater achievements in scientific study with hardened resolve and relentless efforts. Once in the cultivation project, Feng added, teachers are supposed to live up to their pledge as they become the best possible selves, in a way to contribute to China’s innovation-driven development strategy and the building of the “four centers” in Beijing, paying tribute to the 70th anniversary of the founding of PRC.
