On the afternoon of July 3rd, President Fu Zhifeng met with delegation of Embassy of the Union of Comoros headed by ambassador H.E.Mr. Mahmoud M. Aboud. Both sides had a discussion on cooperation and communication.

Introducing CUEB’s basic information, Fu extended welcome to Mr. Mahmoud. Positively implementing national educational policies, according to Fu, CUEB attached great importance to the enrollment of African students. As the Chinese government offers scholarship and subsidies for outstanding students from Comoros, CUEB welcomes more Comoros students to pursue further study and learn Chinese.

Mr. Mahmoud showed appreciation for CUEB’s long-term support and help in light of the cultivation of Comoros students. He said CUEB, a great university known for finance and economics, played a significant role in cultivating economic and financial talents to promote development of Comoros. In order to boost cooperation between the two countries in education, people-to-people exchange as well as economics, he hoped more and more Comoros students would come to China to learn Chinese and Chinese culture. He also hoped the two sides could strengthen communication among teachers in a bid to improve cooperation in academics and cultural exchange.

Later, He Li, Party Branch Secretary and Vice President of School of International Education, Associate Professor Zhu Hong and Yu Jia, Director of Admission Office made an introduction to disciplines and majors set by the School of International Education, as well as the enrollment of foreign students. Mr. Mahmoud also introduced Confucius Classrooms in Comoros, which was expected to be an important window for Comoros students to study in China. The two sides reached intent of cooperation on teacher and student exchanges and would further talk about issues such as the admission of foreign students and assignment of cooperation memorandum.
