On September 10th, CUEB held the 35th Teachers' Day symposium with the theme of “Forge Ahead with My Motherland” in the press conference room of Boyuan Building. Feng Pei, Party Secretary of CUEB, Fu Zhifeng, President of CUEB, Ding Lihong and Wang Chuansheng, Vice Presidents of CUEB, and Xing Qi, Standing Committee Member of CPC and Chief of the Commission for Discipline Inspection, attended the meeting. Xu fang, Deputy Party Secretary of CUEB presided over the meeting. 

During the symposium, CUEB Student Art Troupe played the folk music "Snow land" and sang a small chorus "Grateful Heart" as best wishes to teachers.

Later, all the teachers present watched a short film “Xi Jinping and the Teacher” and carefully studied the spirit of President Xi’s speech.

The symposium commended 34 faculty members who had been engaged in education for 30 years. Student representative Yu Xinyang gave a speech to the teachers. Ding Lihong, Wang Chuansheng and Xing Qi issued certificates for them. Also, the student representatives presented flowers to the teachers.

The school held a ceremony for faculty members who had retired in 2019 and were about to retire before the end of the year. Representative of the young teachers Zhou Lv gave a speech to the retired faculty members. Feng Pei and Fu Zhifeng presented the“Service School” Medal to the retired representatives. And Zhou Lv delivered a speech and presented flowers to them. The Personnel Department, the Teacher's Work Department, and the School Union also prepared a series of souvenirs and retirement gift packages, wishing the teachers a safe and smooth life.

The Party Committee is about to launch the education campaign of “Staying True to Our Founding Mission” required by the Deployment of the Central and Municipal Committees. Ren Fushan, a centenarian teacher of our school, shared his understanding of original intentions and missions as a member of the Communist Party. The participating teachers watched a video named “The Centennial Party Member's Original Intention of the Party - Ren Fushan”.

Retired teachers Li Futian and Gao Shuling recited a poem "The Elder, the Better". 

Prof. Gu Fenling, Dean of the School of Accounting, was awarded the title of “National Education System Advanced Worker” and Feng Pei presented her the award.

Li Lina, professor from School of Marxism and a representative of the faculty involved in education for 30 years, recalled the bits and pieces of the past 30 years of her teaching from three aspects: emotion, gratitude and affection. 

Ding Yun, professor from School of Finance and Taxation and a representative of the retired faculty in 2019, recalled that she devoted all her enthusiasm and dreams to schooling and teaching.

Wang Cizhi, a young teacher representative and new faculty member from the College of Business Administration, said in his speech that he must respond to the call of the Party and the State, bear in mind the Party, the people, the duty and the commandment. Under the guidance of the “Good Teachers with Ideal, Morality, Civilization and Discipline” and “Camel Spirit”, he would continue to work hard in academics, study rigorously in teaching and research, and put his knowledge into action.

Prof. Yin Zhichao, Representative of the Head of Second Unit and Dean of the School of Finance, introduced beneficial experience from three aspects: give full play to the positive role of retired teachers, absorb talented teachers to optimize the faculty structure, and cultivate teachers at different stages.

Feng Pei made a concluding speech. He first extended greetings to the faculty on behalf of the school. He said that the quality of teacher team determined the quality of school personnel training, and the development of teachers also determined the development of the university. In the first half year of 2019, CUEB achieved a series of gratifying achievements in party building, personnel training, discipline construction and scientific research. However, in the second half year, it also faced many hard nuts to crack: the fifth round of disciplinary assessment and teacher salary distribution system reform. Our development depended on the unremitting efforts of all faculty.

Feng Pei put forward three points on the construction of the teaching staff. First, it is necessary to put the party's political construction, especially the construction of teachers' morality, in a more prominent position so as to build a team of trusted teachers; the second is to exercise self-supervision and self-governance and pull the faculty together; the third is to further improve the mechanism for building a talent team and creating a good environment to attract, retain and train talents.

Feng Pei pointed out that CUEB will always regard the teacher team construction as the top priority, making all faculty more satisfied. He also hoped that all faculty and staff would be more actively involved in the reform of school construction. They should cultivate talents, scale the academic heights. And they should unite and invigorate the spirit, seize the opportunity, work in a high sense of responsibility so as to create a new chapter for CUEB. 

Also attended the forum were staff in charge of relevant functional departments and secondary schools, representatives of retired faculty and staff in 2019, faculty representatives engaged in education for 30 years, and representatives of young teachers and students.
