On September 12th, Su Shishu, President of the China Calligraphers Association, visited CUEB to deliver a lecture on the promotion of the Chinese traditional culture to our teachers and students. Su Shishu gave a lecture entitled "The Legacy and Significance of Calligraphy in China" from the following four aspects. First, to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, we must vigorously carry forward the culture of Chinese characters and calligraphy; second, “Write Chinese Characters Do Chinese” has become the common ground of our communities; third, Chinese character helps cultural exchanges and upholds the diversity of civilizations in the world; fourth, we should express people's feelings and scale new heights in the new era; Combined with calligraphy knowledge and his own experience, he expounds the importance of inheriting and developing Chinese character culture as well as making it alive and thriving. At last, teachers and students had a deeper understanding of Chinese character culture.

He pointed out that great attention should be paid to the leading role of Chinese calligraphy in the field of culture, and great efforts should be made to make the study of Sinology more specialized and sophisticated. We should center on people and actively carry out academic studies, so as to improve cultural literacy.

At the end of the lecture, Su wrote the school's eight-character motto "Advocate Morality, Value Competence, Strategize National Development, and Serve the People" and visited the Humanities & Media Experimental Education Center of the School of Culture and Communication.
