On September 26, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and to guide students in carrying forward patriotism, national spirit and the Camel Spirit of CUEB, the Office of Student Affairs launched an educational activity on the theme of "Forge Ahead with My Motherland" for new students and organized students to update the contents on the talent pillars. Feng Pei, CUEB Party Secretary; Zhao Fengqi, Executive Deputy Director of the School's Concern for the Next Generation Work Committee; Ma Li, Director of Students' Affairs Division, deputy party secretaries in charge of Student Affairs at various schools, full-time counselors and representatives of freshmen all took part in the activity. It was hosted by the Deputy Director of the Office of Student Affairs, Li Xiao’ou.

At the beginning, Ma Li led the representatives of freshmen to unveil the mysteries of the admission check-in board. The colorful characters of 70 came into view, symbolizing that the freshmen would shoulder the responsibility of becoming the mainstays of a cause, start a new journey in the university, and live up to the dream of youth so as to write the autobiography of CUEBers.

Bai Mengdie, a freshman in the International School of Economic Management, spoke as representative. She called on the students, as the new generation of dream chasers in CUEB, to take up the baton, make continuous efforts and become the pillars of the new era. They should live up to the expectation of the Alma Mater, respond to the call of the motherland, realize their full potential and contribute to the development of CUEB and the prosperity of China.

At the end of the speech, four representatives of the freshmen pasted the year boards of 2019 on the talent pillars.

Feng Pei wore the school emblem for representatives and welcomed the freshmen as members of CUEB.

In his speech, Feng Pei proposed three expectations for the freshmen. First, the students should take learning as their primary task and become the mainstays of a cause. Second, students should learn how to be grateful, learn to thank parents, teachers and friends, as well as all those around us who care about us, so as to serve our homeland and motherland. Third, students should bear the world in mind, work in a down-to-earth way and have aspirations. They should focus on society with lofty perspectives, and face the future with a broad mind.

Zhao Fengqi made a special report on the history of CUEB along with the development of the People's Republic of China. He described the courses and achievements since the establishment of CUEB, calling on the teachers and students to remain true to the original aspiration, remember the history, understand and pass on the spirit including the school motto and the Camel Spirit. He encouraged the freshmen to set a high standard in spirit and strive to contribute to the development of the school and the country through continuous study of theoretical knowledge and professional skills, as well as improvement of their overall ability.

The representatives of freshmen visited the School History Museum under the guidance of the docent. Students said that the laborious work of several generations in CUEB would inspire them to remember this spirit of shouldering responsibilities, staying resilient, and strive to become a talent.
