CUEB OVERVIEW
Founded in 1956, the Capital University of Economics and Business (CUEB) today is a leading university administered by the Beijing Municipality. CUEB took its current form in 1995 when the Beijing College of Economics and the Beijing Institute of Finance & Trade merged into one. Over the last 60 years, CUEB has grown into a modern, multidisciplinary university with program advantages in the subject areas of economics, management, law, literature, and science and engineering, of which economics and management are the core disciplines.
CUEB boasts 4 first-class disciplines that confer doctoral degrees (applied economics, management science & engineering, business administration and statistics), 4 post-doctoral research programs (applied economics, statistics, business administration, and management science & engineering), 11 first-class disciplines that confer master degrees, 17 programs offering profession-oriented master degrees.
The Department of Labor Economics in CUEB, is accredited as a key national academic program, and is a member of the Exceptional Key Disciplines Project administered by the Ministry of Education. The Departments of Applied Economics and Statistics are both key first-class disciplines in Beijing, having been ranked 12th and 15th respectively among 88 universities, and 5th among finance and economics universities in the Ministry of Education’s 3rd round of appraisals. The first-class disciplines of Business Administration, Applied Economics and Statistics have been certificated as High-grade, Precision and Advanced disciplines in Beijing. CUEB’s programs in economics, labor and social security, statistics and human resources management have been distinguished as “unique majors” at the national level. Of these, economics, statistics and labor and social security are designated as pilot programs for national comprehensive program reform. Programs for political economy, labor economics and social security are recognized as excellent national curricula, with political economy and social security being classified as excellent national open courses, while financial accounting, international economics and international business as national model bilingual courses. Teachers for core courses of human resources management and economics are acknowledged as excellent national teaching teams.
CUEB also has strong facilities resources. The Economics & Management Experimental Teaching Center is rated as a national university experimental teaching center; while the International Economics Professionals Education Experiment Zone a national model innovation experiment zone for professional education. Deloitte Huayong, which has strong cooperative ties with the School of Accounting, is approved as a national field project base for university students. The online course “Into the World of Management” is recognized as an excellent national video open course. In 2013, CUEB was distinguished as a National Education Base for Ecological Civilization.
In recent years, 293 teachers of CUEB have been awarded a variety of honors, like Distinguished Professor of Changjiang Scholars, the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, Ten Thousand Talents Plan - National high level talents special support project, the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholar, New Century Talents Project, National Advanced Workers in Education System, National Model Teachers, National Outstanding Teacher, National Excellent Scientific and Technological Workers, National Prestigious Teacher, and Ministry of Education’s New Century Excellent Talents Supporting Program.
To promote competiveness and serve the public better, CUEB has made great endeavors at the academic research front to emulate first-class domestic universities in all indicators. According to the 2019 Report on the Global University Rankings on Economics Research released by Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, CUEB ranks 7th out of all universities in Mainland China. CUEB is committed to developing research bases, innovation platforms and key laboratories. Until now, CUEB has 4 leading research institutes in the whole nation, such as Mega City Research Institute, Research Center for Central Business District Development, Beijing Urban Economic and Social Development Policy Research Center, Institute of Taxation, and more than 30 other key research centers and institutes in the university level. In addition, CUEB encourages all forms of academic publication. Over the past five years, researchers in our university have published 945 monographs, edited works, textbooks and translated works. CUEB sponsors academic journals like Research on Economics and Management, Population and Economics, which are the source journals of CSSCI. Population and Economics is one of the earliest academic journals on the topic of demographics in China, a National Chinese Core Journal, and one of the key journals with the funding of National Social Science Foundation.
NEEDED RESEARCH FIELDS:
Economics, Management, Statistics, Management Science and Engineering, Literature, Law, and other related fields.
POSITIONS:
Full-time and part-time positions for the research fields listed above.
I. Full-time positions
1. Tenure-track Professors, with the initial contract period of 6-8 years.
2. Non-tenure Track Professors. The contract period will be discussed by both parties.
3. Postdoctoral Fellowship. The working period will be 2-3 years.
II. Part time positions
The contract period will be discussed by both parties. And during the contract period, the employee should work full-timely on campus for no less than 2 months every year.
REQUIREMENTS:
I. Academic Leaders
Candidates should be no more than 55 year old. Foreign scholars should hold senior professional titles or those of equivalence.
II. Lecturers
The candidates should hold the doctoral degrees of overseas prestigious universities, great research abilities and teaching experiences. The academic achievements will be reviewed by domain experts.
WORKING POLICY:
CUEB will provide employees with considerable salary, housing allowance, start-up funding for research, and preferential policy and condition registered residence, children’s education, etc.
