On November 20th, the Department of Publicity in CUEB Party Committee, Department of Teachers' Work and the Party Committee of the School of Finance held a new event themed as “Staying True to Teaching Aspiration & Striving for New Chapter” in the 2nd conference room of Boyuan Building. The event was hosted by Yin Zhichao, Dean of the School of Finance.

Around the theme of this talk, five teachers shared their experience. Wang Manyi, a famous teacher in Beijing and the doctoral supervisor of the Department of International Finance, and Zhang Xiaohong, the first-prize winner of the 2018-2019 Class Teaching Excellence Award and the head of the Department of Insurance. Others are the Party Secretary of the Department of Investment, Wang Jiani; young teacher, the head teacher of 2018 Master of Finance, Lian Yonghui; head of the Department of Financial Engineering, Zhao Daping.

Wang Manyi told the story of her 36 years as a teacher on the theme of “36 Years Efforts to Cultivate Talents” by lighting the ideal lamp, leading the way forward and encouraging students to integrate their ideal pursuit into the career of the country and the nation.

Zhang Xiaohong shared her experience with the topic that “Where the Heart Lives, There Everything One Achieves.” She said, “I like the teaching platform and the students' attention. Whenever I get on this platform and see the sparkling eyes of the students, I will ask myself: what can I give them and what shall I give them.”

Wang Jiani shared her thoughts on how to integrate ideological and political education into the teaching of professional courses on the theme of “Thoughts about Teaching”.

Lian Yonghui shares his thoughts on “Teaching & Research from the Perspective of a Young Teacher in the School of Finance”.

Zhao Daping took “Balancing Teaching & Research, Enlightening and Educating Talents” as a topic to share her knowledge and experience in the work.

Cheng Xianqiu, Party Secretary of the School of Finance concluded that “In recent years, under the unified leadership of the school's Party Committee and with the strong support of the relevant departments, and through unremitting efforts of all teachers, the school has improved teaching, research and profession. This is the result of joint efforts of all CUEBers. The development of the School of Finance cannot be separated from the old generation and the young and middle-aged teachers. The school put forward to all teachers the following initiatives: be a good teacher; be a good guide and stick to the unity of the four phases. Teachers should educate students with a more vigorous spirit, a rigorous and pragmatic work style, and set up a good image and professional ethics. Stay true to the original aspiration, and write a new chapter for the development of the School of Finance in the new era.”

To encourage the faculty, Yin Zhichao quoted the nine aspects of being a gentleman in Gentleman’s Doctrines by Yu Qiuyu, a famous scholar and essay writer in China. He said that the Central Committee of the CPC set up moral education as the foundation of higher education, and put forward higher requirements for the ideological and moral level of college teachers. The wisdom contained in Gentleman’s Doctrines is of great value in inheriting the excellent traditional Chinese culture and cultivating students.

Finally, the newly recruited faculty members in 2018 and 2019, led by Wang Ping, the chairman of the School of Finance Union, read the Teacher's Oath of CUEB.

Also present at the event were Fu Lin, the Administrative Vice Minister of the Department of Publicity in the school’s Party Committee, Shang Xiaohui, Director of the Department of Teachers' Work and the Office of Personnel, Gao Fei, Deputy Director of the Department of Publicity in the school’s Party Committee, and all the teachers of the School of Finance.
