CUEB Party Secretary Feng Pei Interviewed on "Construction of Ideological and Political Theory Courses in Colleges and Universities"
On December 27th, the "Symposium on the Construction of Ideological and Political Theory Courses at the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of PRC and Study of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era" was held at CUEB.
At the symposium, CUEB Party Secretary Feng Pei stressed that the Ministry of Education is promoting the implementation of the “Double Ten Thousand Plan” for first-class undergraduate courses. By 2022, there will be about 10,000 national “golden courses” and about 10,000 provincial ones, making the construction of "golden class" truly take root in universities. This course-oriented innovation strategy puts forward higher requirements for the construction of ideological and political courses. Feng Pei hoped that everyone can use this symposium as a platform to discuss the blueprint for the construction of ideological and political "golden courses" to truly absorb Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
During the break, Feng Pei was interviewed by China Education Television about "Construction of Ideological and Political Theory Courses in Colleges and Universities". He mentioned that there are still some problems in ideological and political courses in colleges and universities. The first was the disconnection between theory and practice, including the lacking of case studies and the depth of theories. Second, the rigid teaching model can display the depth and breadth of courses but not the warmth to students. To cope with these existing problems, Feng Pei proposed that teachers should carefully prepare lessons and pay attention to the introduction of the curriculum. Teachers should focus on the problems in the courses, not only giving students the answers, but also instructing them how to solve problems. At the same time, universities should encourage more practices with immersive online and offline integrated teaching modes in the great new era. Therefore, students can make progress through the integration of self-education and universities’ course-oriented innovation education.
