The School of Labor Economics approved as First Batch of Scientific Research Bases of China National Committee on Aging
Recently, China National Committee on Aging has issued the Notice on the Selection Results of the First Batch of Scientific Research Bases for Aging (CNCA [2020] No. 21). The School of Labor Economics, CUEB became one of the first batch of 20 approved bases.
China National Committee on Aging is a vice-ministerial institution under the State Council. It was established in 1995 with the approval of the State Council (issued by the General Office of State Council or GuoBanFa in Chinese [1995] No. 9). It is a national department specializing in aging services. In August 2005, it was approved by the Central Institutional Organization Commission to carry out work in the name of the Office of the National Working Commission on Aging. The main responsibilities are as follows: to conduct investigations and put forward suggestions on the guidelines, policies, plans and problems in the development of the cause of aging in China; to carry out social activities related to ageing issues such as information exchanges and consulting services, and participate in relevant international activities; to undertake other matters assigned by the State Council and work entrusted by relevant departments.
In October 2019, China National Committee on Aging issued announcement on the first batch of "Scientific Research Bases for Aging", selecting universities, scientific research institutes and the Party School (Administration Institute) with a relatively complete range of supporting disciplines, research institutions, full-time researchers, certain research results accumulation and funding guarantees. After an independent declaration, research selection, review and confirmation, and follow-up notification, the first batch of 20 units were selected and approved as the "Scientific Research Bases of China National Committee on Aging".
In recent years, the School of Labor Economics has focused on the development of capital, Beijing, and conducted in-depth research on the “ageing problem in mega-cities” to provide references for Party and government decision-making. Since 2018, the School of Labor Economics has released the Blue Book of Elderly Care Services in Beijing every year. In 2019, two reports of the School of Labor Economics won the second prize of the 10th "Excellent Paper Report Award".
Relying on the national first-class professional construction site of "Labor and Social Security" and the interdisciplinary disciplines between management and economics, the research base will focus on the hot spots and difficult issues of elderly care in large cities such as Beijing, and conduct in-depth study of theories and practices for the elderly service, so as to contribute to the elderly care in China's big cities.
