On September 17^th, the Department of Publicity in CUEB Party Committee, CUEB Personnel Office, as well as School of Marxism held a new “Teacher Remarks about Hump Spirit” with the theme of “Welcome New Teachers and Open a New Chapter to Seek Common Development” in Boyuan Building. In this forum, the outstanding teachers shared their experience to young teachers, aiming to help and accelerate them to embark on the right track of teaching and scientific research Feng Pei, Party Secretary of CUEB, attended this forum.

Feng Pei expressed a warm welcome to four new teachers in his speech. He stressed that the teachers in School of Maximax need to have two essential qualities. The first one is “belief and passion” that is, teachers should have theoretical foresight and true passion, and take ideological and political education as a career. He hoped that teachers could form their own styles of teaching, uphold the diversity of teaching styles, thus creating a better teaching environment. The second one is thinking and acting. Teachers should embrace their mission. Feng said, ideological and political education is not to teach knowledge points, but to integrate knowledge and practice. In the teaching process, more attention should be paid to the grafting of practical cases and ideological theories, so as to convey more profound content to students. Feng Pei encouraged teachers to enter the Dao (the Way), that is, to have a clear understanding of the times, education, ideology and politics, schools and students, trying their best to learn from thinking, and to be precise from acting.

Aiming to improve the overall quality of talent training, School of Marxism arranged Young Teachers Development Program, hoping that older teachers could help young teachers make a professional development plan. In the forum, young teachers presented flowers to their mentors who guided their teaching and scientific research.

Zhou Hongyu, the representative of mentors, said with emotion in his speech, “The arrival of four new teachers inject fresh strength to School of Marxism. I hope they can interpret the identity and role of teachers well, remain true to our original aspiration and be faithful to every step of life.”

Liu Juan, Director of Teaching & Research Office of the Basic Principle of Marxism, shared that we should remain true to our original aspiration and be patient in teaching and scientific research. The characteristics of humanities determine that scientific research is a process from restlessness to calmness, which calls one to settle down and study carefully. Second, teachers should learn advantages from others and embrace an inclusive mind, trace the academic hot points and learn frontier knowledge. At last, Liu Juan concluded that learning and morality are intertwined. Learning is not only a process to think independently, but also the cultivation of mind. At the end, tenacity and tranquility will accompany you the whole life.

Zhou Liqun encouraged new teachers with the following points. First, teachers should follow the academic trends, browse academic journals, focus on topic trends so as to spark academic ideas. Second, teachers should give full play to our professional advantages, pay attention to research and seize every opportunity to steel ourselves. Third, be patient and select the hot topic which suits you rather than blindly follow the trend. Fourth, young teachers should continue to innovate based on our original research direction.

Gu Jun, a representative of the elder teachers, shared his own experience on class teaching activities. He thought that there are three tips for ideological and political education. First, practice what you’ve learned. Second, express it efficiently. Third, managed it well. In order to arouse student’s interest, teachers should combine ideological and political education with student’s major, interest points and current hot points.

Lian Huan, a young teacher in Moral Tutelage and Legal Office, the first prize winner of the Beijing Ideological and Political Teaching Competition, brought us a 10-minute wonderful simulation lecture entitled “Faith is the nourishment for the mind”.

Liu Guanjun, the academic representative, shared three pieces of advice to new teachers. First, positioning. Positioning can help us remain the original aspiration and shoulder our missions. Second, profession. Be an expert in Marxism and cultivate unique academic opinions. Third, cooperation. Teachers must pay attention to the team cooperation spirit.

Besides, Li Lina and Wang Xiaoying, starting from their own teaching experiences, encouraged young teachers to stick to their faith, inherit study style and find suitable teaching methods, combine their academic foundation and teaching characteristics, and pay attention to the construction of teacher’s ethics and academic ethics.

Young teachers said that as soon as they enter the big family, they feel the warmth and love, and they will certainly live up to the lofty profession of teachers. The teachers all agreed that the forum not only enabled young teachers of School of Marxism to understand the development of this school and CUEB more comprehensively but also help new teachers have a clearer understanding of their future and orientation and enhance the mutual understanding between teachers, old and new.
