CUEB Holds the 3rd Meeting of Joint Construction Management Committee with Economic Daily Press
On September 18th, CUEB and Economic Daily Press held the third meeting of the School of Culture and Communication (Economic News Talent Training Base) Joint Construction Management Committee. Zheng Qingdong, President and Chief Editor of the Economic Daily; Zheng Bo, Deputy Chief Editor; Chen Xiaoli, Deputy Secretary-General and Director of the Personnel Department; Wang Zhi, Director of the Editorial Office; Chen Fabao, Director of the New Media Department; and Wang Xudong, President of the China Economic Network, Feng Pei, Party Secretary of CUEB; and Xu Fang, Deputy Party Secretary of CUEB attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Xu Lijing, Deputy Chief Editor of the Economic Daily.
At the beginning of the meeting, Shi Gang, Dean of the School of Culture and Communication, presented the achievements of the joint construction work in the past three years and the vision for the future work on behalf of the Joint Construction Management Committee. Over the past three years, the two sides have carried out active interaction and in-depth cooperation in promoting the construction of Marxist View of Journalism Courses, cooperating in the training of journalistic and communication professionals, and actively expanding areas of cooperation and joint construction, and achieved fruitful results. In particular, the acclaimed leaders and senior editors of the Economic Daily participated in the construction and teaching of the Marxist View of Journalism Courses in the school, and acted as the off-campus tutor of the “Plan for Outstanding Talents in Communication Studies”. And the school also plays its professional advantages, jointly organizes New Media Training Projects, provides professional training editors and journalists with the Economic Daily, forming a co-construction characteristics of cooperation.
At the meeting, participants from both sides discussed how to deepen cooperation.
Xu Fang pointed out that the two sides should further consolidate the results of joint construction, and step up cooperation in the course team on the Marxist View of Journalism and the related MOOC, media integration and development, and high-end think tank construction to build new strengths.
Zheng Bo pointed out that the joint construction work of the two sides has achieved remarkable results. It is necessary to further strengthen the training of talents, jointly build the Marxist View of Journalism courses, and train a group of backbones for the Economic Daily Press.
Xu Lijing pointed out that the joint construction work of the two sides has achieved the expected results, and the cooperation should be further deepened in the compilation of the teaching materials of the Marxist View of Journalism courses and the strengthening of the influence of the Economic Daily Press among teachers and students.
In his speech, Feng Pei emphasized that it has been five years since the cooperation between CUEB and the Economic Daily Press. With the joint efforts of both sides, fruitful results have been achieved. The next step of cooperation and joint construction has entered a stage of improving quality and efficiency. He proposed that the school should give full play to the advantages of faculty to meet the needs of the Economic Daily Press’s editors and reporters to improve the professional skills. Also, faculty and students should publish more high-quality articles through the Economic Daily Press theoretical edition platform to increase academic influence. CUEB should leverage high-end think tanks in Beijing, and jointly build a high-end academic forum about the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region. CUEB should give full play to the shared advantages of technical resources and learn from the mature experience of the Economic Daily Press to build a Convergence Media Center. Meanwhile, CUEB should bring into play the Economic Daily Press and organize various activities to increase teachers and students' attention to financial news in the new media environment.
In his speech, Zheng Qingdong fully affirmed the joint efforts and expressed the need to step up cooperation. He proposed that the two sides will implement a cooperative program in five aspects. The first is to cultivate a group of talents for the Economic Daily Press through customized training. The second is to publish a series of theoretical articles to propagate Xi Jinping Thought on Socialist Economy with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era by leveraging academic advantages of CUEB and platform advantages of Economic Daily Press. The third is to create golden courses about Marxist View of Journalism through utilizing the resources of both sides. Fourth, the two sides will hold a high-end academic forum themed around the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, so as to improve the academic influence of CUEB and the quality of the theoretical propaganda of the Economic Daily Press. Fifth, it is necessary to jointly launch a series of books to consolidate the results of the research and publicity of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialist Economy with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.
After the meeting, members visited the All-Media Center of Economic Daily Press and experienced the platform of China Economic Media Group Corporation.
It is reported that the Ministry of Education and the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China jointly issued a document in 2013 to promote the establishment of the Schools of Journalism between the local Party committee propaganda department and colleges and universities, so as to combine theory with practice, give play to the respective advantages of the industry and academia, and innovate talent training models. In April 2015, CUEB signed an agreement with the Economic Daily Press to jointly establish the School of Culture and Communication (Economic News Training Base) Joint Construction Management Committee. Over the past five years, our school has achieved fruitful results in talent training, majors and curriculum construction through the joint efforts.
