On the afternoon of September 25th, the 2020 award ceremony for students assistance themed “Financingthe Students’ Higher Education Goals, Seeking a Promising Future” was held in Beijing Children's Palace Theater. CUEB was awarded the Typical Unit of Beijing Student Funding in this selection activity; CUEBer Cheng Ting was awarded the title as Inspirational Student on Beijing Campus. Vice President Sun Haozhe participated in the ceremony and shared opinions. Ma Li, Director of the Office of Student Affairs, came to the stage to receive the certificate as a representative.

The award ceremony was sponsored by the Beijing Center for Students Assistance Affairs Administration and organized by the Modern Education News. It is to commend the Inspirational Students on Beijing Campus, Beijing Excellent Workers for Students Assistance, Typical Units of Beijing Student Funding, Recommended Learning Units of Beijing Student Funding and Recommended Individuals of Beijing Student Funding.

China is in the final push to achieve the target of poverty eradication as the nation is entering the home stretch in realizing its first centenary goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects in 2020. In order to fully demonstrate the important role of student financial assistance in poverty alleviation, from July to September, Beijing has launched the student funding selection activity titled “Financing the Students’ Higher Education Goals, Seeking a Promising Future”.

Sun Haozhe, as a representative of the Typical Unit of Beijing Student Funding, participated in the roundtable forum and shared the insights of colleges and universities to do a good job in student funding. In addition to the establishment of state-funded projects such as National Grants and Scholarships, CUEB has also added special projects such as charity corners, living allowances for freshmen, and transportation subsidies for job-seeking graduates, which increase student funding guarantees through multiple channels and methods.

Sun Haozhe mentioned that the funding work is not simply about providing material assistance to students, but also includes the education of students’ ethics and literacy. CUEB defines funding work more as an education project, providing students-based funding methods with proper platforms and precise plans. 

Sun Haozhe emphasized that CUEB incorporates student funding work into the ideological and political education platform and the guidance system for college students. The fundamental purpose of moral education is to help students realize their dreams through funding work and encourage them to contribute to society.

Winning the battle against poverty and building a moderately prosperous society in all respects is the solemn promise made by the Party to the people. CUEB will fully cooperate with Beijing to further champion the “Four Consciousnesses” (political consciousness, consciousness of the overall situation, consciousness of the core and compliance consciousness), find political stances and uphold Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. CUEB will thoroughly implement the CPC Central Committee’s decision and deployment on poverty alleviation, improve student funding work and make greater contributions to the battles against poverty.
