On November 30^th, a symposium to promote the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19^th Central Committee was held at CUEB by the publicity group. Han Xianzhou, member of the Municipal Party Committee’s publicity group, member of the publicity group that promotes the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee, Party Secretary of CUEB, focused on the theme of “Making Contributions to Build a Modern Socialist Country in an All-round Way” to guide all branch Party Secretaries of college students and representatives of student Party member. Xu Fang, Deputy Party Secretary of CUEB, presided over the symposium. About 200 people attended the symposium

Han Xianzhou took “how to see”, “how to learn” and “how to do” as the logical main line, inspired students in CUEB to seize the opportunity, shoulder the mission, and make contributions to building a modern socialist country in an all-round way through a profound explanation of the great significance, important viewpoints, significant judgments and major initiatives of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19^th Central Committee of the Communist Party.

Han Xianzhou systematically explained the important connotation of “The New Development Stage, the New Development Concept and the New Development Pattern” for the students. He pointed out that the plenary session conducted a profound study on understanding the new development stage, put forward the comprehensive requirements to carry out the new development concept, made the important disposition to construct the new development pattern. Accurately grasping the connotation of the three “New Development” is useful to realize the meaning of the plenary session from the historical perspective and deepen the understanding of the meaning of the plenary session.

Han Xianzhou reminded the students to grasp the opportunity from “The Recommendation” to make their commitments. He also conveyed the spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 12^th CPC Beijing Municipal Committee to the students, explaining various key tasks during the Capital’s “14^th Five-Year Plan”. He pointed out that the Fifth Plenary Session of the Central Committee has released a large number of policy dividends for the healthy growth and high-quality development of contemporary youth. In the next 5 to 15 years, students’ development will be closely linked to the national and capital’s “14^th Five-Year Plan” and the long-range goals for 2035. He hoped that students can combine what they have learned from “The Recommendation” with future development, and seize the good opportunity to make their contributions.

Han encouraged students to take responsibility for the building of a modern socialist country. To learn the key role of leadership and navigation, we should ensure “the two upholds”; to understand the people-centered logic, we should follow the Party; to shoulder the mission of national rejuvenation, we should try to be a new generation in the new era. “A nation will prosper when its young people thrive, and a country will be strong when its young people strive.” We should learn from history, deepen our understanding of the laws that underlie the governance of the Communist Party, the development of socialism, and the development of human society. Meanwhile we need to foster great ideals, strengthen our ability, make contributions to building a modern socialist country in an all-round way.

The symposium is distinct in logic with rich content, which can help students to understand the spirit of the Plenary Session better. The students expressed their wishes to earnestly study and implement the spirit, accurately grasp the bright prospects of the Party’s major decisions and plans for the future development of China. CUEBers would study hard and put into practice what they have learned to serve the motherland and the people, so as to achieve national rejuvenation.
