Research Base of China National Committee on Aging Founded in CUEB

Recently, the 2nd Social Security and Elderly Services Forum & Opening Ceremony for Research Base of China National Committee on Aging, as well as the “Promoting National Strategies Against Population Aging” Seminar was held in Tianlang Hall, Bona Building, CUEB. Leaders and guests from Office of The National Working Commission on Aging, China National Committee on Aging, China Assistive Devices and Technology Center for Persons with Disabilities, Social Work Committee of CPC Beijing Municipal Committee /Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau, Beijing Municipal Health Commission attended this Opening Ceremony and Seminar. President Fu Zhifeng, Yao Xudong, Director of Office of Research, Prof Feng Xiliang, Dean of the School of Labor Economics, extended warm welcome and gratefulness to guests. Yao Dongxu and Feng Xiliang hosted the Opening Ceremony and Seminar respectively.

On the Opening Ceremony, Fu Zhifeng delivered a welcome speech and introduced the development history, subject concentration degree of CUEB. He fully affirmed the importance and necessity of the research in population aging and showed that CUEB has the comprehensive competencies to study population aging. All of them will provide an opportunity to integrate the competitive professions to study population aging.

Party member of Office of the National Working Commission on Aging and Wu Yushao, Vice President of China National Commission on Aging delivered a speech for opening ceremony and introduced the situation of commission, which is specialized in studying population aging and afflicted to the State Council. They also extended affirmation and congratulation to CUEB’s strength and features that CUEB can succeed among 50 famous universities and colleges in China.

Feng Xiliang introduced the situation of disciplines and the construction of Population Aging Base, thanked the support and help of leaders and showed that the School of Labor Economics will fully support the development of Base.

Then, Fu Zhifeng, Yao Xudong, guests who attended the Seminar as well as teachers and students of the Base took a photo to mark the occasion. Accompanied by Feng Xiliang, guests visited the CUEB History Museum and got to know the detailed development history of CUEB. They were deeply impressed by the development history of the School of Labor Economics.

On the following “Promoting National Strategies Against Population Aging” Seminar, experts conducted an in-depth discussion. Wu Yushao delivered a speech themed as “The Interpretation of Promoting National Strategies Against Population Aging” and explained the strategies comprehensively from the perspective of “philosophy, policy, family, community, health and environment”. 

Li Zhihong, Director of the Department of Policy Research in China National Committee on Ageing, elaborated the Research Base from three aspects: “Why to construct the base?” “How to carry it out?” and “How to do research?”, which provided inspiring suggestions for the base construction. Dong Liquan, Deputy Director of the China Assistive Devices and Technology Center for Persons with Disability made a detailed introduction to the history and role of the Center, willing to cooperate with the Base in the future. Hou Xinyi, Director of the Social Work Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee/Research Department of the Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau explained the orientation and practice of families, communities and institutions from the issue of “Three Beds[ The “first bed” is the long-term care bed provided by the geriatric nursing institution; The “second bed” is the short-term care bed provided by the day care center in community; The “third bed” is the “home care bed” provided by the home nursing care institutions.]” in Beijing. He hoped that the Base will conduct research on ageing issues in Beijing. Ding Weihua, Director of the Aging Health Division of the Beijing Municipal Health Commission interpreted the development of long-term care insurance and the problems of the aging industry, hoping that the Base will conduct in-depth research on the positioning of long-term care insurance. Wu Xiaogao, Director of the China Center for Assistive Devices for the Disabled is full of confidence in the future development of technology, and believes that assistive technology can do a lot in the aging process and can comprehensively guarantee elderly care services.
