The MBA student teams of CUEB won 1 first prize, 6 second prizes and 4 third prizes. In the English competition, the teams won a first prize and Xue Jun in this team won the title of “Excellent Negotiator”, and the MBA teams won a second prize and a third prize.

This competition was sponsored by the Communication and Negotiation Committee of National Institute of Industrial Technology, and was organized by the School of Business Administration of Jiangxi University Finance and Economics and co-organized by Youdao Business Innovation (Shenzhen) Technology Company Limited.

Over one thousand teachers and students formed 299 teams to take part in this competition (in Chinese and English). The participants included undergraduate students, Master students and graduates from 45 universities including Central South University, Lanzhou University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Capital University of Economics and Business, Tianjin Foreign Studies University, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, North Minzu University and Shanxi University of Finance and Economics.

Nine Chinese competitive teams and one English competitive team were led by teachers Li Yan and Wang Ziwei from the College of Business Administration and represented CUEB in the case competition and the internet competition. Under the lead of teacher Yang Zhen from the same college, MBA students formed 11 teams to take part in the Chinese competition and 2 teams for the English part. The theme of the case competition in the Chinese part is “Contracting of photovoltaic power generation project” and all our teams passed the case competition and entered the final round. The first round was held from October 30th to 31st, the team needed to negotiate based on the theme of the case competition and the negotiation process was scored by judges. With solid case analysis and negotiation skills, our students maintained a calm state of mind and steadily pushed on the negotiation process even when it was obviously forming into deadlock.

The second round on November 6th was the "One Hour Preparation Case Negotiation". The format of the competition was to distribute the case one hour before the negotiation. Each side quickly prepared their case, and then conducted an impromptu negotiation after one hour. This round was scored based on the objective results of the negotiation, and the scores of the two rounds were totaled up to reach the final ranking. Our students used flexible and diverse proposals as bargaining chips in exchange for concessions from the other side, and finally reached a consensus on the 7 issues that could be negotiated. Our students always guided the pace of the negotiation, and the teamwork was also very successful.

This is the largest, most professional, and challenging domestic business negotiation competition and the competition was held for the first time in English, which was in line with the international competition system, using English cases, keeping English communication thorough out, and inviting international negotiation experts to make comments on how to achieve cross-cultural communication and negotiate thoroughly.

The theme of the case competition and the first round of the final in the English competition was “U.S.-China Panda Lease”. The students of CUEB quickly understood the international nature of negotiations, studied the relevant literature and case materials, and actively conducted the negotiation simulation. The second round was a trade negotiation on Ghana cocoa beans, for which both sides had one hour to prepare. During the negotiation process, the CUEBers improvised and calmly played through their plan and reached a win-win situation with their hard work.

With the support of the College of Business Administration, the leadership of the teachers Yang Zhen, Li Yan and Wang Ziwei and the efforts of the students of CUEB, the case competition in the summer and the two rounds of the final in late autumn were both outstanding achievements and showed CUEBers’ capabilities and excellent appearance in business negotiation on the stage of the national competition yet again.
