CUEB Wins Awards in the 4th Information Literacy Competition for F&E Universities
The final of the 4th “Sozdata Cup” Information Literacy Competition for F&E Universities was held online from May 28 to 29. Undergraduate students and graduate students of CUEB took part in the competition under the guidance of instructors from our Library. We have made a big success with several awards, such as a third prize for the graduate group, an honorable award for the undergraduate group, Best Instructors, Outstanding Instructors and Excellent Organizers.
Zhang Guiyan, Party Secretary of CUEB library, led the team, with the deputy librarian Ma Yanlin and Jin Tong from Information Service Department as the instructors. This competition kicked off in November 2021 and the six-month preliminary round consisted of online learning, offline lectures, daily quizzes, and mock exams. After evaluating the preliminary results and comprehensive competence of 200-odd participants at the end of April, two teams were selected for the national final competition. The graduate team comprises Wang Danni, Wang Jingyi and Xu Dongshuo from the School of Labor and Economics. The undergraduate team includes Li Yingjie and Tian Guoxuan from the College of Business Administration and Li Yingshu from the School of Culture and Communication. A month before the final, the library organized online training and practice tests, while actively providing full support for the competition and constantly improving the final details. The competition lasted seven months and came to a successful end.
The Information Literacy Competition for F&E Universities, sponsored by the Steering Committee for Academic Libraries of China, is the first national information literacy competition for college students. It has been held for four consecutive sessions and this session is hosted by the Guizhou University of Finance and Economics. 69 teams from 46 F&E universities participated in the 2-day final, which had three rounds of online exam, limited-time topic retrieval, report writing, PPT presentation, etc. The competition not only examined information literacy including information retrieval, analysis and utilization in all respects, but also tested intellectual knowledge about finance and economics, as well as the command of logical thinking and speaking.
The competition is an important way for the library to promote learning through competition and publicize information literacy knowledge. Through the competition, our library extends traditional knowledge teaching with high-quality services, and builds an off-class professional competition platform for students, so that they can appreciate the charm of information literacy and improve their competence at the same time. In the future, our library will continue to promote information literacy education and get better prepared for this competition.
