On the morning of August 27, the Beijing Semifinal of Staff Vocational Skills Competition on Audit Theory and Practice was hosted by the Beijing Municipal Audit Bureau and the Beijing General Labor Union and co-hosted by CUEB. The competition aimed at carrying forward the spirit of model workers, hard work, and craftsmanship, forging and cultivating Audit cadres to take their responsibilities and master expertise, and implementing the requirements of The Year of Advancing Expertise of Beijing audit agencies to advance qualities and skills of Audit cadres and staff. Out of 907 candidates from Beijing Municipal and District Audit Agencies in the preliminary, 239 of them entered the semifinal.

Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director-General of the Beijing Municipal Audit Bureau Ma Lanxia, CUEB Party Secretary Han Xianzhou, Member of the Party Leadership Group, Deputy Director-General of the Beijing Municipal Audit BureauXu Juan, Deputy Minister of the Staff Development Department of the Beijing General Labor Union Feng Youlian, Vice Chairman of the Politics, Law, Health and Culture Labor Union Du Cuijuan and Secretary General of the Beijing Staff Skills Association Lei Bolin inspected the examination rooms.

Before the inspection, leaders of both sides held a symposium on cooperation, exchanges, competition, etc. Ma Lanxia extended her gratitude for CUEB’s well-preparation for the competition and for the university and the School of Accounting’s years of support for the work of the Beijing Municipal Audit Bureau and the Beijing Audit Society.

Party Secretary Han Xianzhou expressed sincere gratitude for the Beijing Municipal Audit Bureau’s trust and expected to cooperate and exchange strategically with the Bureau to play a better role in serving Beijing as the Four Centers (namely, national political center, cultural center, center for international exchanges, and center for scientific discovery and technological innovation) .

Additionally, focusing on arrangements after the competition, both sides discussed cooperation on audit personnel cultivation and scientific research. Director of CUEB Party and Government Office Zhang Tong, Party Secretary of the School of Accounting Xu Jiangbo, Deputy Dean of the School of Accounting (taking charge of the school) Yu Peng, and Vice Chairman of the Beijing Audit Society and Professor of the School of Accounting Gu Fenling inspected the examination and attended the symposium. Then, they visited the School History Museum.

The event kicked off in March and consisted of three phases: the preliminary, semifinal, and final. It mainly covered audit theory and practice, relevant laws and regulations, accounting, and big data audit theory and practice. Expert judges from the Audit Research Institute of the National Audit Office, the School of Accounting of CUEB, as well as practitioners established an examination question bank, balanced these questions, designed tests, evaluated test papers, and analyzed the results. CUEB leaders attached high importance to the semifinal and final held in CUEB, well organized by the School of Accounting, fully supported by the Party and Government Office, the Publicity Department, the Security Office, the Office of Logistics Services, the School History Museum, and other departments.

By holding the competition, the School of Accounting successfully implemented the 14th Five-Year Plan and served Beijing well. In recent years, we have signed strategic cooperation agreements on audit personnel cultivation, scientific research, and social practice with the Beijing Municipal Audit Bureau so as to advance the development of Beijing as the Four Centers. Therefore, we can take advantages of its strengths and make contribution as a Think Tank.
