The 2022 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) was held in Beijing from September 1 to 5. CUEB sent 40 volunteers, including students and teachers from 17 colleges, to provide services for this event. Among all the volunteers, 98% of them are Party members and League members, and over 50% of them once participated in such major national service guarantee tasks as the celebration of the centenary of the Communist Party of China and the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. Led by Xiao Xiao, head of the Volunteer Affairs Office of the CUEB Youth League Committee, this volunteer team with high political accomplishment and strong comprehensive ability, successfully completed all tasks in the first and second phase project of China National Convention Center (CNCC). Through a total of over 1,600 hours of service for CIFTIS, they wrote a new chapter of volunteer service in the capital with confidence and responsibility. 

Strict Selection and Training for Qualified Volunteers

Based on the strategic positioning of the capital, Beijing's voluntary service serves major events as its tradition and advantage. CUEB attached great importance to the voluntary service for CIFTIS, conducting careful organization and strict selection. At the mobilization meeting, Li Xiaoou, Secretary of the Youth League CUEB Committee, asked volunteers to realize the importance of this voluntary service, work hard and protect themselves so as to contribute to the success of the fair. Xiao Xiao, the leading teacher, gave a brief introduction to voluntary service in the fair and made clear the specific requirements for epidemic prevention and control.

On August 25, all volunteers completed training courses online. On August 30, 34 volunteers went to CNCC for a site visit and learned deeply about the duties of volunteers on specific posts from employers, so as to complete their tasks without making any mistakes.

Transfer Youth Power through Selfless Voluntary Service

In the 2022 CIFTIS, volunteers of CUEB provided voluntary services of seven types of posts with dedication, enthusiasm and care.

To be specific, 16 volunteers were in the environment exhibition area to provide route guidance, information consultation and other services for participants and assist employers in issuing and sorting out questionnaires; 3 volunteers provided conference services in the office of the Ministry of Commerce, receiving award-winning guests and arranging venues; 10 volunteers were responsible for contacting trade groups from other cities, distributing and moving materials; 6 volunteers assisted the State Administration for Market Regulation in sampling and testing food quality and safety. In addition, there were 4 volunteers who served the volunteer rest area all day long, decorating publicity display boards, providing meals, drinks and materials for all volunteers to create a warm and comfortable environment. According to incomplete statistics, our volunteers were interviewed by Beijing Radio and Television Station, FAREN Magazine and other media; Model deeds of volunteer representatives were put in the headlines on the WeChat official account of the Beijing Volunteer Service Federation. Smiles of volunteers could be seen all over the CIFTIS venues.

During the event, the first temporary Party branch of the coordination group of CNCC gathered all volunteers to study the congratulatory letter by President Xi Jinping to CIFTIS. CUEB volunteers said that they would firmly and confidently rise to difficulties in the volunteer spirits of dedication, friendship, mutual assistance and progress. 

Greetings from Leaders Energize Volunteers

On the morning of September 2, accompanied by Qu bin, head of the coordination group of the CIFTIS voluntary service group in China National Convention Center, Liu Ying, head of the overall coordination group of the CIFTIS voluntary service group and other leaders of employers, Sun Haozhe, member of the Standing Committee of the CUEB Party Committee and CUEB Vice President, Li Xiaoou, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of CUEB, and Zhao Xun, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee of CUEB, came to China National Convention Center to visit volunteers. Sun Haozhe asked student volunteers about their volunteer work and praised them for contributing to CIFTIS. After that, Sun and other leaders talked with student volunteers in the volunteer rest area of the second phase project of China National Convention Center. Sun pointed out that as the only national, international and comprehensive fair for trade in services in the world, CIFTIS undoubtedly provides students with a valuable learning opportunity and exhibition arena. He hoped that all students would cherish the opportunity, devote themselves to every service with high quality, high standards, full enthusiasm, good spirits and professional attitude, casting a golden name card for CUEB volunteers.

At the end of the discussion, Sun sent care packages on behalf of CUEB and reminded students to take a rest if necessary and pay attention to personal protection while actively completing their work.

Logistic Service for Volunteers under Closed-Management Controls

In order to ensure the orderly logistics work of CIFTIS, CUEB formulated strict epidemic prevention and control measures. Volunteers moved into Building 7 in Hongmiao campus on August 31. Xiao Xiao, the leading teacher, accompanied volunteers all the time, ready to make prompt adjustments to ensure that all volunteers live in one specific place and have meals separately. According to relevant epidemic prevention requirements, volunteers need to accept nucleic acid tests every day. In addition, many departments cooperated with one another to solve problems of accommodation, catering and transportation and help student volunteers keep pace with their school courses, trying their best to ensure the success of voluntary activities.

The volunteer headquarters of CNCC held a collective birthday party for all the students born in September, and all volunteers participated. Their smiles and singing became an unforgettable memory.

On September 5, the 2022 CIFTIS was successfully concluded. CUEB volunteers lived up to their mission and youth, fully showing the uplifting spirits of the contemporary college students. We believe that in the future, all CUEB volunteers will continue to stay true to the original aspiration and mission of young people in the new era and live up to the expectations of the Party and the people, trying our best to make more achievements!
