On November 1, CUEB Party Secretary Han Xianzhou delivered a lecture on “Striving to Be New Youngsters to Shoulder Mission of Realizing National Rejuvenation” at the Student Leaders Training Camp for Grade 2022. It was to implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, encourage young students to learn the spirit of the Party’s 20th National Congress, and forge ahead with enterprise and fortitude to make achievements in the new era, especially to strengthen the team of student leaders as role models. The lecture was chaired by Wang Jinbao, Minister of the Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee.

Interpreting the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress and taking in perspective students’ mission in the new era as well as the role of the student leaders, Han delivered an ideological and political lecture in simple terms from three aspects:  understand the new era, keep working hard, and be a new generation of young people.

From a global perspective, Han analyzed the international context of the successful opening of the Congress and China’s achievements in a time line. He summarized the Party’s work of the past five years and the great changes in the first decade of the new era, which contributes to the success of CPC and the tremendous, magnificent development of China. Given the new changes of the world, the country, and the Party, Han analyzed the theme of the Congress from three aspects: orientation, spirit, and the Second Centenary Goal of a new journey and interpreted new opinions, new conclusions, and new thoughts put forward in the Report to thoroughly and profoundly convey the spirit and keynotes of the Congress.

Han took examples such as Donald Trump’s visit to China to indicate it is important and necessary to keep working hard. In his guidance, students learned that there is a long way to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and that the peaceful development is not going smoothly. Our achievements are hard-earned. Amid global changes of a magnitude not seen in a century, intricate international situation, and following risks and challenges, we must work hard, set the bottom line, be keenly aware of the need to maintain political integrity, think in big-picture terms, follow the leadership core, and keep in alignment with the central Party leadership, stay confident in the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics, uphold General Secretary Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole, and uphold the Party Central Committee’s authority and its centralized, unified leadership. We need to strive to build China into a modern socialist country in all respects and advance the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts.

Introducing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s autobiography, I Am Always the Son of the Yellow Land, Han hoped students would be firm in ideals and convictions, shoulder the mission of the new era, pass on the traditions of revolution, devote themselves to the country, and follow its guidance. Both university students and China are in the new era of prosperity and opportunities. Thus, young students should have a global vision and shoulder responsibilities. As the advanced force and the wind vane, the student leaders can unite other students. Han expected them to study harder, unite knowing and doing, temper themselves by working with others, and strive to be a new generation of young people to shoulder the mission of realizing national rejuvenation.

Han presented the student leaders of Grade 2022 with President Xi Jinping and University Students and encouraged them to think critically, learn diligently, evolve continuously and practice earnestly. Deputy Minister of the Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee Ji Yanyan and nearly 200 student leaders attended this lecture.
