On November 1, the opening ceremony of the Student Leaders Training Camp for Grade 2022 kicked off in Academic Report Hall of Boxue Building. This training was organized by the Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee and aimed to build a strong team of student leaders as role models by promoting their comprehensive competencies through a deep learning of the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, thus to fully implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education.

In his speech for the ceremony, Wang Jinbao, Minister of the Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee, gave credit to the Camp for its significance. Through his review of the Party history, we know that the Party has led the Chinese people to achieve success in the new-democratic revolution, in socialist revolution and construction, in reform, opening up, and socialist modernization and for socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era. All of these have equipped the country with better social conditions, better institutions, firmer material foundations, and a more proactive mindset for realizing the second centenary goal of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects. As students in the new era, at the historic crossroad of the "Two Centenary Goals", we need to understand our historic points. Each generation has its own historical circumstances and missions. All CUEBers in the new era should understand our missions in the new era, integrate ourselves into the new era and lead the trend of the new era, so as to fulfill our own ambition in the new era and contribute to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Wang Ruochen, a student of Grade 2019 from the International School of Economics and Management and the monitor of Class 2 of Finance (Data and Econometric Analysis), shared her experience of class construction and what she had gained from her work as a student leader. Zhang Ziqi, a student leader in charge of students’ psychological health of Class 3 of Grade 2022 of Finance and Taxation in the School of Public Finance and Taxation, gave a speech as a new student leader representative. He talked about why he had chosen to be a student leader and how he would fulfill his responsibility. He hoped to acquire more skills and promote his comprehensive qualities through the Camp.

Sui Jiaqi of the Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee arranged the schedule of the Camp and highlighted important information for all students present. She encouraged them to take this opportunity to strengthen their skills and promote their comprehensive qualities, thus building a stronger team of student leaders.

This theoretically-founded training camp provides practical opportunities for student leaders to enhance their abilities, thus promoting class construction. It makes good use of high-quality resources inside and outside CUEB to cultivate excellent student leaders in an all-round way. To this end, it has set up a series of courses, from which student leaders can learn the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress. These courses are designed to foster strong ideals and convictions of student leaders, promote their comprehensive qualities and prepare them how to prevent and resolve psychological crisis. These student leaders also get practical opportunities, such as visiting an exhibition themed “forging ahead on the new journey”, participating in team building activities, demonstrating excellent class activities, designing class activities and interviewing outstanding student leaders. This training camp would last for one month since November 1.

The Camp shall further encourage student leaders to play their leading roles and lay a solid foundation for their comprehensive development.
