On the afternoon of November 9, CUEB held a symposium for permanent representatives of the 9th Students’ Congress and the 5th Graduate Students’ Congress in Conference Room 6 of Bona Building. Sun Haozhe, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Zhao Xun, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee of CUEB, chaired the meeting. 

Sun Haozhe, on behalf of the Party Committee, expressed his congratulations to the successful election of permanent representatives and the presidium of the Graduate Student Council, and wished them big success in future work. And then, he detailed three requirements targeting at their future work. Firstly, we must prioritize learning the spirit of the 20^th CPC National Congress to strengthen organization construction; deeply bear the expectation given by the Party and the country in mind and grab the original aspiration and aim of the reform by examining present work and improving various tasks to effectively implement them. Secondly, we should organize diverse activities focusing on preserving and sustaining our traditional culture; keep the Camel Spirit represented by CUEBers alive and uphold fundamental principles and break new ground; bring positive energy into students and enrich their college life through diverse activities. Thirdly, all participants should consider serving students as a way to involve in the university governance. We need to remain true to the original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind, and stick to the principle of “from the students, to the students” by paying attention to their physical and mental health and protecting their interests. In the end, Sun wished all participants could learn much from the new jobs. 

During the meeting, the new members of the presidium of the Student Union and the Graduate Students Council introduced themselves in turn. Fu Yuqi, Executive Chairperson of the Student Union, spoke on behalf of the new Student Union. She said that picking up the baton, she will, under the guidance of the school's Party Committee and Youth League Committee, work hard in the four aspects of strengthening ideological leadership, serving as a bridge, deepening reform achievements, and fully serving students. She will take full responsibility as a student cadre with ideals, courage, endurance and willingness. Ren Hongyuan, Executive Chairperson of the Graduate Students Council, delivered a speech. She said that she and all her colleagues will continue to inherit the fine traditions, actively fulfill their responsibilities to serve all graduate students efficiently and accurately in terms of improving political stance, innovating activities’ forms, digging deep into the media resources platforms, and improving research capabilities. Ultimately, all these will help us build a vibrant Student Union without losing common touch. Shang Ruitong, Permanent Representative of the 9th Graduate Students’ Congress and Executive Chairperson of the Student Union of the School of Public Finance and Taxation, said that as a permanent representative, she will unswervingly follow the Party, convey the Party's and the school's call to students and listen to the voice of them to tackle their urgent problems in order to unite all students. Zheng Yuying, member of the Preparatory Committee of the Student Union and the Former Executive Chairperson of the Student Union, said that it was a pleasure to witness the whole reform process of the school's Student Union. Also, it is clear that the two unions have become more standardized and more adept at organizing, and the cooperation and connectivity of student unions at school-level and university-level have been significantly enhanced, which fully reflects the strong organizational force and the appeal of the student union after the reform. She said that she will work with the new permanent representatives to build a better CUEB. 

Li Xiao’ou, Secretary of the School Youth League Committee praised the progress made by the Student Union in terms of ideological guidance and the role as a bridge for students in the process to advance the reform. Li hoped that the Student Unions at both the level of university and the school would be committed to improving the satisfaction of students through launching more brand projects and high-quality activities. We should make more contributions to serving the overall situation---the development of the country and the capital and the central work of CUEB. We should constantly improve social recognition, carry out work in line with laws and regulations, further the reform of the Student Union, and adhere to strict governance.

After the meeting, all the permanent representatives, under the leadership of Li Xiao’ou, studied the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress. Through this symposium, the newly elected permanent representatives enhanced consensus, gathered strength, anchored the goals and directions of the next step, injecting new vitality into the Student Union on the road of reform for prosperity.
