The 6th Anniversary of the National Conference on Ideological and Political Work in Higher Education: Curriculum-based Ideological and Political Construction: The Key to a New Pattern-of “Three-Wide Education”
On the occasion of the 6th anniversary of the National Conference on Ideological and Political Work in High Education, CUEB, as the representative of cultured campuses in Beijing, has achieved remarkable fruits. Han Xianzhou, Party Secretary of CUEB, accepted an interview: Version 1.0：Building Broader Ideological and Political Education with CUEB Characteristics, which was released on www.bjwmb.gov.cn through video. The video showcases CUEB efforts to further promote curriculum-based ideological and political construction and fully epitomize the concerted actions with CUEB characteristics.
Talent cultivation stands as the foundation of a country while the orientation in talent cultivation serves as the priority in education. Since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, CUEB has actively promoted curriculum-based ideological and political construction to implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education.
With several steps, CUEB has phased in an integrated top-down system with its own characteristics:
Version 1.0: build an overall framework
Version 2.0: fully deepen the construction of ideological and political education
Version 3.0: fully advance ideological and political major construction
Version 4.0: build a curriculum ideological and political system of revolutionary CUEB.
“Fostering virtue through education” and “Three-Wide Education” (i.e. all-faculty, whole-process, all-round) represent the new philosophy and new requirement in the new era, while they also stand as both obligations and tasks. Since the National Conference on Ideological and Political Work in High Education has been convened for 6 years, the Party and Governance Office of CUEB has been committed to making curriculum-based ideological and political construction a driver to implement the task of fostering virtue through education in the new era, which has won positive responses among teachers, students and cadres.

Curriculum-based ideological and political construction is a new issue in the new era. Thanks to several years of practices and explorations, CUEB has established a top-down development pattern with the general plan made by the University and then implemented by secondary schools. This process is led by the Party branch and participated by all. In this way, CUEB has identified the key to integrating ideological and political construction into the regime of talent cultivation and upgrading the mechanism of “Three-Wide Education”. Every faculty member has clarified their respective duties and tasks. It is tempting to argue that the philosophy of “fostering virtue through education” has brought many gratifying changes.

The Report to the 20th CPC National Congress points out that the foundation of education lies in fostering virtues. We shall fully carry out the Party’s education policy, implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, and nurture a new generation of capable young people with moral grounding, intellectual ability, physical vigor, aesthetic sensibility, and work skills for the socialist cause.
