On the morning of December 9, CUEB held specialized work meeting both online and offline to convey the spirit of the meeting from Beijing Municipal Education Commission (short for BMEC) on classified development project of municipal colleges and universities, deployed relevant work, and presented the current situation on campus epidemic prevention and control. The meeting was presided over by Han Xianzhou, Party Sectary of CUEB, and attended by President Fu Zhifeng, Deputy Secretary of the CUEB Party Committee Xu Fang and Wu Hui, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice Presidents Sun Haozhe and Wang Yonggui, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission and Supervisor Chen Caiqun,  member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President Yin Zhichao.

Han proposed three requirements to relevant work in response to the spirit of the meeting from BMEC.

First, we should appreciate BMEC’s requirements on the classified development project of municipal colleges and universities. We need to make clear two goals: “to develop ourselves” and “to serve Beijing”. For this, we need to strengthen top-level design and coordinated ability of our university and each school, and focus on the “two key tasks”: “to serve the capital” and “to reform and innovate”. That means we should seize the key points on how to serve the capital in the new area and promote high-quality development of CUEB. By doing so, we can expect quality development with CUEB characteristics and specialties.

Second, we should take timely and effective measures on epidemic prevention and control. According to the campus situations and requirements that “many a little make a mickle”, we should implement the decisions made by CPC Central Committee and Beijing Committee of the CPC in a more comprehensive and targeted way, and learn the optimized prevention and control measures. Every department needs to take responsibility for epidemic prevention, and urge every teacher and student to enhance prevention consciousness and to be responsible for their own health.

Third, we should finish the work well at the end of this year. According to the school development plan in the 14th Five-Year Plan and key work points, we shall carry out the following key tasks and carry them through, namely, organizing postgraduate entrance examination and final examination, making plans for winter vacation and new semester in spring, and giving more care to teachers and students. We are to ensure a safe, fulfilling, and peaceful vocation for all teachers and students.

Fu conveyed the spirit of the meeting from BMEC. He introduced the application situation of the project, assessment criteria, and inspection key points, and analyzed the meaning of funding mechanism reform of municipal colleges and universities and classified development projects application. He said that the implementation of classified development of municipal colleges and universities not only embodies the spirit of the 20th National Congress but also speeds up the school internal reform. He required every department to align their thinking and understanding with BMEC. Every department should actively apply for classified development project, tighten the budget, make preparation for an austere life, and implement classified development requirement. Besides, Han also made some deployments for final examination, winter vacation and spring semester.

Sun Haozhe introduced some relevant situations about adjusting epidemic prevention and control measures. He pointed out that school’s epidemic prevention and control are facing new challenges and risks, with China’s adjustments in prevention policy. He said every person need to protect himself or herself, and strictly carry out the new prevention policy, and work hard together for school epidemic prevention.

Xing Qi, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, heads of all units (including deputy heads in charge) and deputy deans (deputy directors) of all teaching units attended the meeting.
