CUEB Holds 2023 International Young Scholars Forum

In order to fully implement the new vision, strategy and actions in talent recruitment in the new era, CUEB seized the opportunity to bring in outstanding young talents from domestic and overseas universities so as to support its high-quality development. From December 1 to 5, CUEB successfully held the 2023 International Young Scholars Forum online. Over 130 young scholars from world-renowned universities or research institutions participated in forum, such as the University of Edinburgh, University of Toronto, Kyoto University, the University of New South Wales, the University of Hong Kong, Tsinghua University and Peking University. Shang Xiaohui, Director of Teachers Affairs Department of CUEB Party Committee and Personnel Office, presided over the opening ceremony and delivered the opening speech.

On behalf of CUEB, Shang expressed her warm welcome to all participants. She stressed that CUEB is a municipal high-level research university of Beijing so it continues to implement the strategy on developing quality faculty and stays true to the fundamental task of establishing morality and fostering people. CUEB works to foster a supportive environment for talent development and aims to cultivate talents into professionals who remain dedicated to the country. We hope that young scholars can have more academic communication and exchanges through this forum. CUEB sincerely welcomes young scholars from home and abroad to join us and start a new journey of success and aspiration.

In the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of the Personnel Office Ma Yanru made a special report to introduce CUEB’s discipline features, plans for talent development, innovation in research, teaching staff and social services. Besides, Ma further analyzed national and Beijing strategies for talent recruitment and CUEB’s comprehensive system for talents support. Ma also introduced CUEB’s methods, recruitment plans and treatment in talents introduction.

 

As the representative of Outstanding Young Talents, Professor Zhang Dongyang from School of Economics and Associate Professor from College of Business Administration shared their reasons to stay in CUEB and experiences in self-improvement.

 

After the opening ceremony, staffs from Personnel Office and all participants had further discussion in the procedure of talent recruitment, academic evaluation and promotion approaches.

 

During the 5-day forum, 134 outstanding young scholars from the world participated in 15 sub-forums, including Cutting-Edge Applied Economics, High-Quality Development of Accounting and Economy, Development Trends of Labor Science and etc. These forums covered 60 frontier research, such as strategic administration, international trade and commerce, institutional innovation and economic growth and management decision driven by data. All schools offered a platform for the world’s young scholars to exchange their ideas, promote communication and have better understandings about our talent recruitment plans.

 

Before the forum, CUEB widely publicized it through CUEB Weibo Official Account, eol.cn, AcaBridge, Students’ Federations of overseas universities, Wiley and toutiao.com. This forum attracted many overseas outstanding young scholars to share their opinions. During the forum preparation work, the university analyzed the subject arrangements and academic performance of 700 applicants. Finally, 134 young scholars were invited, with 60% of them having experiences of overseas study.

 

Since 2020, CUEB has held International Young Scholar Series for Online Recruitment for a fourth consecutive year. Against the ravaging pandemic, we have provided a safe and effective face-to-face platform for all colleges and talents from home and abroad to communicate in real time. Through this forum, many of these excellent young scholars know CUEB better and decide to join us, which shall add new impetus to our development. The Forum and its series activities have become an important method for us to attract and recruit talents.
