On the morning of June 16,the 2023 Postgraduate Commencement and Degree Conferment Ceremony was held in the gymnasium of CUEB.Attendees included Wu Weixing, Deputy Party Secretary and President, Xu Fang, Deputy Party Secretary, Mao Baizhan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Secretary of Discipline Inspection Commission, Li Xiaomu, Vice President, Yin Zhichao, Yao Linxiu, Chen Yanbin (Yin, Yao, and Chen are members of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice presidents), and Liu Wei, Alumni Representative (graduate of Class 1988) and Partner of Spright Capital. Chen Yanbin hosted the ceremony.

The ceremony started with the national anthem. Li Xiaomu announced the Decision of the Degree Evaluation Committee of CUEB on Conferring Diplomas on Doctoral and Master Graduates and congratulated 69 doctoral graduates and 1522 master graduates on earning their degrees.

Among these graduates, 4 doctoral graduates and 79 master graduates were selected as Beijing Outstanding Graduates.Xu Fang announced the Decision on Conferring “Beijing Outstanding Graduates” on 83 Graduates and awarded certificates to them.

On behalf of Class 2023, Liang Rixin, Doctor of Accounting and Shan Yuehui, Master of Management and Engineering delivered speeches.They recalled the first day and endeavor in CUEB. With deep affection for Alma Mater, it is time to start a journey. They shared their plans and expectations and extended sincere gratitude to the leadership, teachers, and staff of the Office of Logistics.

On behalf of supervisors, Du Wencui, Professor from School of Economics, encouraged graduates to stand up for belief and stand fast to the bottom line. She also hoped that the graduates could respect themselves as well as competitors and always be humble but never feel inferior. And they will find their own world as long as they challenge themselves.

Liu Wei shared his experience of working across various sectors,and firms with public and private ownership. He congratulated graduates on learning and growing at this beautiful campus. Their friends and lovers were beside them. Also, Liu Wei encouraged them to challenge themselves and embraced setbacks to make the society better. 

To strengthen the communication between the university and graduates, CUEB appointed 72 alumni liaisons from the Class of 2023. Chen Yang, Master of Laws, was appointed as a representative and certificated by Yin Zhichao. 

Later, Wu Weixing congratulated Class 2023.Looking back on the last three years, Wu listed their great achievements. By presenting graduation gifts, he expressed great expectations for them:

keep reading, thinking, learning, and overcoming difficulties;

explore boundless possibilities and find answers in the change on a scale unseen in a century;

make commitments to the development of Alma Mater as CUEBers;

carry forward “Camel Spirit” and shoulder the mission. Without accumulating little lights, they cannot shine like the sun.

Leaders earnestly set the tassels straight for doctoral graduates, issued degree certificates, and wished them a bright future. Entrusted by Degree Evaluation Committee of the university, Degree Evaluation Committees of schools held degree conferment ceremonies. Finally, the 2023 CUEB Postgraduate Commencement and Degree Conferment Ceremony came to a successful end.

Heads from functional departments and schools, supervisors, doctoral and master graduates, and their families attended the commencement. Meanwhile, the commencement was broadcast live on WeChat, with over 15,000 views.

Graduate Affairs Department and Student Affairs Department of the Party Committee, the Office of Cooperation Affairs and Communist Youth League Committee jointly organized farewell activities themed “Happy Graduation”. Besides, Graduate Affairs Department held activities themed “Braving the wind and the waves with gratitude”, such as introducing outstanding graduates’ achievements, collecting theses “Acknowledgements”, holding academic workshops, and sending goodbye letters. Every graduate was presented with a CUEB badge with the sincere expectations that every graduate, bearing Alma Mater in mind, could forge ahead with enterprise and fortitude on a new journey toward building a modern socialist country in all respects!
