CUEB Plans to Enroll 2,774 Students in 2024 with Three Changes
According to the 2024 enrollment plan, CUEB will admit 2,774 students, a slight increase from last year. Of these, 1,995 will be from Beijing, including 86 for joint education programs with other universities and 58 for a Beijing special enrollment program, with 1,851 for the regular batch. An additional 688 students will be admitted from other cities, and 91 through other specific plans. Seven admission groups for Beijing are set for Beijing, four without specific elective subjects, one requiring physics, one requiring physics and chemistry, and one for the cooperative education program with a foreign university. There are 29 majors (accounting for 73% of the enrollment plan) with no elective subject requirements, 8 majors (12%) requiring physics, and 7 majors (15%) requiring physics and chemistry.
Three Changes for 2024
Firstly, CUEB introduces three new majors: Digital Economy, Financial Technology, and Supply Chain Management. These are intended to meet the evolving demands of the digital age and promote new, quality productive forces in the new era. All these three new majors require physics as an elective subject.
Secondly, CUEB offers seven specialized programs: Business Administration (Digital and Intelligent Management Experimental Class), Economics (Experimental Class), Accounting (Digital and Intelligent International Accounting Excellence Class), Human Resources Management (Experimental Class), Public Finance (Experimental Class), Law (Digital Law Excellence Class), and Finance (International Finance English Class). These programs will be available in the admissions directory, and students go through the college application process.
Thirdly, seven majors now require physics and chemistry: Computer Science and Technology, Data Science and Big Data Technology (Information Technology), Mathematics and Applied Mathematics (Finance), Statistics, Data Science and Big Data Technology, Safety Engineering (Certified Safety Engineer), and Statistics (cooperative education program with a foreign university). Additionally, Financial Engineering now requires physics.
Innovative Training Models
CUEB has revamped its experimental, international, and excellence classes into seven specialized programs to train innovative, application-oriented, interdisciplinary, and globally-minded personnel. These programs emphasize digital and intelligent competencies by integrating relevant digital courses into the curriculum. Students are supported through a comprehensive mentorship system, including dual mentorship or one-on-one guidance. The programs also emphasize collaborative training with multiple practical courses and offer preferential postgraduate recommendations.
In collaboration with the University of Arizona (UA), CUEB offers a Statistics major under a “4+0” model. Students who meet graduation and degree requirements will receive a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from both institutions, along with a standard undergraduate diploma from CUEB.
Students can apply to change their major in the second or fourth semester. While there are no restrictions for transferring out, students must meet the receiving college’s requirements and pass its assessment to transfer in. Students who successfully transfer in their second semester can start their sophomore year directly in the new major. Those who transfer in the fourth semester need to restart their sophomore year in the new major. Additionally, students can pursue a minor. If they meet the degree requirements for both their major and minor, they can earn degrees in both fields. The university also offers 11 micro-majors in digital and intelligent disciplines, allowing students to expand their studies beyond their main major.
These initiatives are based on a credit-transfer system, enabling students from all majors to apply for university-sponsored international exchange programs. CUEB has cooperation agreements with 180 universities and research institutions in 38 countries and regions. The university offers diverse international cooperation and exchange programs, including short-term summer exchanges, as well as semester or year-long exchanges. Additionally, CUEB facilitates joint degree programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels. These programs operate on a credit recognition basis, allowing students from all majors to apply for university-level international exchange programs.
Admission Rules
For admissions, candidates within the same subject category are ranked by total score for one-time submission. Parallel applications are processed based on candidate preferences, prioritizing institutions with available spots. CUEB follows a “scores first, then preferences” principle, without setting any grade differences within a professional group. If candidates have the same total scores, the score of Chinese will prevail, followed by Mathematics and Foreign Language scores.
CUEB recognizes all types of bonus points recognized by provincial admission and examination institutions, and these are also considered when selecting majors.
CUEB enrollment plan in Beijing will be launched in both the undergraduate early admission and regular admission, both utilizing parallel preference selection. The proportion of file transfers shall not exceed 105% of the local enrollment plan.
Students with color blindness or color weakness cannot apply for Safety Engineering (Certified Safety Engineer). Students with color blindness cannot apply for Journalism and Communication studies, Computer Science and Technology, Information Management and Information System (Financial Information Management). Foreign Language and Literature only admit candidates with English as the foreign language in the National College Entrance Examination.
Joint Training Program and Special College Enrollment Plan for Rural Students
CUEB has allocated spots in both the early admission batch B and the regular batch for Beijing. The early admission batch B primarily includes the Joint Training Program and Special College Enrollment Plan for Rural Students.
In 2024, CUEB plans to admit 86 students through the Joint Training Program and 58 through the Special College Enrollment Plan for Rural Students.
The Joint Training Program is distributed by district, so applicants should check the specific allocation for their district when applying. The majors under this plan do not have specific elective subject requirements. The Special College Enrollment Plan is available only to students with agricultural household registration and residence in urban development or ecological protection areas (Districts of Mengtougou, Pinggu, Huairou, Miyun and Yanqing) of Beijing.
The Joint Training Program is designed to foster collaboration between CUEB and four centrally administered universities: Central University of Finance and Economics, University of International Business and Economics, China University of Political Science and Law, and Communication University of China. It follows a 3+1 model, where students spend the first three years at the partner university and the fourth year back at CUEB, earning their bachelor’s degree and graduation certificate from CUEB.
Relevant majors are Business Administration (Business Enterprise Management), Investment Science, Insurance (Insurance and Risk Management), Law (Intellectual Property), Advertising and Communication.
Requirements for Foreign Language
Foreign Language Requirements: Foreign Language and Literature program only enrolls students with English as their foreign language in the entrance examination.
For the Statistics major under the cooperative education program with a foreign university, applicants must have a foreign language score of at least 70% of the full score in the National College Entrance Examination (Gaokao). Only English and Japanese courses are offered as public foreign languages in CUEB.
Majors Taught in English: International Finance, International Accounting, Financial Information Management, Data and Econometric Analysis, etc. These programs are offered by the School of Finance, the Overseas Chinese College, and the International School of Economics and Management, and are affiliated with Finance, Business Administration, Information Management and Information Systems, and Statistics (Cooperative Education Project with a Foreign University), respectively.
Notes for Filling out the Form of Intention for Preferred Universities and Majors
CUEB always has a large enrollment for students from Beijing with a stable admission score. Candidates in Beijing can apply for admission in the early batch B and the general batch to increase the admission probability. Failure of admission in the early batch does not affect applications and admissions in the regular batch.
Most majors have no restrictions on subjects. In Beijing, CUEB divides the regular batch majors into seven groups. If candidates wish to apply for different majors, they can choose more than one major group simultaneously to increase their chances of admission. When filling out the intention form for the regular batch, students are advised to agree to major adjustments within the group to avoid not being admitted. To maximize the interests of the candidates, CUEB will admit students who are medically qualified and follow the major adjustment process.
If students want to apply for general major batches, they need to fill out the college application according to the general major batches and understand the names and majors within them. For example, the general major batch of Business Administration (School of Labor Economics) includes three majors: Labor and Social Security, Labor Relations, and Social Work. Students applying for Business Administration (School of Labor Economics) will choose one of the three majors to study after receiving basic training, and the selected major will be shown on the diploma. It’s important to pay attention to the majors in the general major batches when filing the college application.
