On March 3, 2025, the new semester is underway at CUEB. Wang Wenju, Party Secretary of CUEB, and Wu Weixing, Deputy Party Secretary and President of CUEB, led a team to inspect the preparation work for the new semester, especially the situation of teaching and learning. The team went to Boxue Building and smart classrooms in Shensi Building and found out that everything went smoothly and orderly—well-prepared lessons, energetic students, effective operation of teaching facilities, and fully implemented security work, etc.

During the inspection, the school leaders emphasized requirements for teaching activities, stressing sustained efforts to enhance teaching management, teaching quality, and academic ethos. Teachers should fully utilize teaching resources and facilities to innovate teaching methods, arousing students’ interest in active learning; while other faculties should focus on the security of teaching, creating a better environment for teachers and students.

Li Hua, Director of the Office of Logistics Services, Sun Zhongjuan, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office, and other relevant leaders joined in the inspection.

In the library of CUEB, quiet and still,

An ocean of knowledge for minds to fill.

with the sun on our shoulders, students smile and pace,

Isn’t it a good season to cherish the youth?

The Voices of CUEB Faculty and Students on the First Day of School

Tan Shanyong, a teacher at the College of Urban Economics and Public Administration

Spring is a season for learning knowledge and seizing opportunities. “DeepSeek”, which symbolizes China’s rapid advancements in AI, is revolutionizing urban sectors and driving the wave of transformation in smart city iteration. This transformation not only presents new challenges for urban economic development, but also provides a significant platform for students’ professional growth. I hope students cultivate interdisciplinary thinking and act on the principle that a city should be built by the people and for the people, becoming both leaders in urban development and creators of a better life.

Sun Baoling, a teacher from the Teaching and Research Office of Civil and Commercial Law at the School of Law

I felt both delighted and excited on the first day back to school. The new semester brings joy and anticipation for our academic journeys. I hope everyone sets new goals and leads a fulfilling semester.

Hao Ran, a teacher from the Teaching and Research Office of Ideology and Morality and Rule of Law at the School of Marxism Studies

Spring is a season for sowing and blooming. As a teacher in ideological and political education, I shall keep improving teaching in the new semester, aiming to give accurate and engaging classes by focusing on the fundamental task of cultivating virtues. I try to make these courses rich in knowledge, diverse in teaching methods, and popular among students, ensuring that each class serves as nourishment for their spiritual development. I wish all students a fruitful and rewarding new term.

Bao Yangming, a professor of Financial Technology and Management Science at International School of Economics and Management

Spring is the season of sowing, and may you toil in the fields of knowledge, nurturing your dreams with wisdom and sweat. Whether you study in the classroom or go outside to explore life, may you embrace each day’s challenges with a positive mindset. A new semester is like a new journey. May you stride towards new goals with firmer steps and grow into better selves.

GE Liangzi, a teacher of Physical Fitness Testing and Research at the Department of Sports

In PE lessons of the new semester, I hope students will enjoy exercises, develop new sports skills, fostering a lifelong passion for sports. May all CUEBers be healthy, positive, and up-going!

Wan Yankai, teacher of Chinese as a Foreign Language at the International College

A new semester means new challenges and growth. Learning is not a smooth ride. In the era full of changes, I hope you will have the courage to meet challenges and the appetite for the unknown. I hope you can be critical in your study and cherish your life. May you exceed yourself and shine with brilliance.

Tian Chaoran, an undergraduate student of Grade 2022 at the School of Business Administration

As I stepped back into the familiar Boxue Building, the fatigue from the holiday seemed to vanish. The current specialized courses are like a deeper treasure of knowledge than the basic courses I took in previous semesters. I have made my mind to cherish every moment, not letting precious time slip away, and I hope this term will become the most vibrant chapter of my university life.

Hu Xin, a graduate of Grade 2024 at the School of Economics

The new semester has arrived as expected, bringing a fresh start. Returning to the dorm, I found the door had been replaced, and these small updates reflect the school’s continuous efforts to improve the environment. Back in the classroom, both teachers and students have grown more accustomed to using the equipment, making the class smoother. This semester, I aim to dedicate more time to my research, hoping to steadily advance my plans for new progress.

Hu Shiyi, an undergraduate of Grade 2024 at the School of Labor Economics,

After adapting to university life over the past semester, I’ve learned to balance my study and life with greater ease. The new semester fills me with greater anticipation and new plans. Embracing a growth mindset, I aim to flourish like a tree—evolving from budding to mature resilience while enriching the depth of my life in the new semester.

Deng Xinyi, an undergraduate of Grade 2022 at the School of Public Finance and Taxation

Returning to campus, I plan to reallocate time. Based on what I have learned before, I can acquire new knowledge, just like a bridge connecting the past and the present. Each reflection in class deepens my grasp of the subject. Challenges coexist with rewards, and I believe this semester will be a voyage of tremendous possibility and joy.

Han Guoqing, a graduate of Grade 2024 at the School of Foreign Studies

On the first day back, sitting in a familiar classroom, I felt like a switch on me being flipped. Though sudden transitions bring unease, the warm spring sunlight on my desk smooths away lingering wrinkles in my mind. As my to-do list grows, I will use pressure as a springboard. I’ll adapt quickly, try to complete the previously impossible tasks, work tirelessly, and await patiently my spring blossoms!

Guo Siyi,  an undergraduate of Grade 2023 at the School of Data Science

The first class stunned me—our teacher used English roleplay for model construction, broadening my perspective. When SQL (Structured Query Language) analysis yielded a 0.01 significance level, I sensed the romantic allure of Data Science! Now, I’m eager to explore the infinite potential of Statistics and Data Science.

Set sail with the new semester!

Move forward on the new journey!

Together we grow!
