On February 28, the third Beijing AI Industry Innovation and Development Conference was held at the China National Convention Center Ⅱ. Themed “Good, Easy and Willing: Accelerating AI Empowerment across Industries with Innovation”, the conference adopted a “1+9” structure, featuring one opening ceremony (main forum) and nine sub-forums. It focused on cutting-edge AI technologies and industrial development, attracting over 5,000 industry experts, scholars, and enterprise representatives.

The conference was organized by the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission, the Administrative Commission of Zhongguancun Science Park, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, and the Beijing Municipal Radio and Television Bureau. It was undertaken by the Mentougou District People’s Government of Beijing Municipality and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. Wu Weixing, Deputy Party Secretary and President of CUEB, and Yin Zhichao, Member of the Party Standing Committee and Vice President, were invited to attend the event.

At the main forum, Wu Weixing attended the “Launch Ceremony of the Large Model Tuning Workshop”. Supported by the AI industrial ecology featuring “high computing power + large model + comprehensive applications”, Intelligent Valley Model Tuning Workshop in western Beijing solves the current problems of scattered AI computing power and insufficient accuracy by optimizing data processing, parameter tuning, training techniques, and model evaluation, thereby improving calculation efficiency and accuracy of the model.

On the afternoon of February 28, CUEB co-hosted the “AI + Finance and Security” sub-forum with the Mentougou District People’s Government. During the “Expert briefing” session, President Wu Weixing delivered a speech titled “Generative AI and Financial Service Industry: Opportunities, challenges, and prospects.” In the speech, he deeply analyzed the Deepseek phenomenon and explored the application, opportunities, and challenges of generative AI in the field of financial services. During the “Unveiling Ceremony” session, the School of Finance signed a memorandum of cooperation for the co-construction of the “Technology Finance Research Institute in Western Beijing” with the Administrative Commission of Zhongguancun Mentougou Science Park. This is another significant achievement of Mentougou District and CUEB in building industrial think tanks and promoting industry-university-research integration.

In April 2024, CUEB signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Mentougou District People’s Government. The two sides will cooperate in cadre training, think tank construction and decision-making consultation, technological cultivation and achievement transformation, and educational development to promote the high-quality development of Mentougou District and CUEB. In October 2024, the School of Finance of CUEB signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with the Zhongguancun Mentougou Science Park launching the Red “1+1” Party Branch co-construction, establishing two industry-university-research bases for technology finance and digital finance, and conducting horizontal scientific research projects on technology finance. The “Technology Finance Research Institute in Western Beijing” aims to integrate university and local resources, promote the combination of academic exchanges and industrial practice, and provide intellectual and talent support for the regional development of technology finance. The co-construction of this high-end think tank platform is not only a vivid practice of promoting deep industry-university-research integration, but also a significant step toward enhancing university-community cooperation and advancing Beijing’s technology finance initiatives.

Present at the meeting were Fu Lin, Member of CUEB Party Standing Committee and Director of the Publicity Department; Fan Hejun, Director of the Office of Research, and some leaders from the School of Finance, including Secretary Li Meiyu, Dean Zhou Kaiguo, Deputy Secretary Wang Dong, and Assistant Dean Wang Jiani. More than 30 volunteers from the School of Finance participated in the event, demonstrating the youthful spirit of CUEBers in actions.
